Alternate means it will be across and on the opposite side, there for the alternate interior angle for 2 would be the same number as the function you're solving.
For example: if you're going to find the alternate interior of 17x+9, it will be 17x+9, the angle on the lower right hand side of the top parallel line.

Surface area and volume of a regular triangular pyramid that has a base edge of 16 cm and a slant height of 15 cm
Schach [20]

Answer:

a) Surface area = 616 cm²

b) Volume = V = 1083 cm³

Step-by-step explanation:

Surface area and volume of a regular triangular pyramid that has a base edge of 16 cm and a slant height of 15 cm

a) Formula for surface area = Base area × 1/2(perimeter × slant height)

Base area = Base edge²

=( 16 cm)² = 256 cm²

Perimeter = Base edge × 3

= 16 cm × 3 = 48 cm

Hence:

Surface Area = 256 cm² + 1/2(48 × 15)

= 256 cm² + 360 cm²

= 616 cm²

b) Volume = 1/3 × Base area × Height

1082.758616785cm³

Approximately = 1083 cm³

I need help with this please
AnnZ [28]
Hi there! The answer is C.

The area of the square in the middle is the following:
length \: \times \: width \: = 5 \times 5 = 25
Hence, the area of the square is 25 cm^2.

The area of one triangle is the following:
0.5 \times base \: \times \: height \: = 0.5 \times 5 \times 8 = 20
Hence, the total area of the four triangles is 4 × 20 = 80 cm^2.

Therefore, the total area of the pyramid is 80 + 25 = 105 cm^2. The answer is C.

Two cars are traveling on two different routes, one 43 miles longer than the other. The car traveling on the longer route travel
Anestetic [448]

Answer:

x1 = 275 miles (shorter)

x2 = 318 miles (longer)

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

x1 = be the shorter route

v1 = speed of the car in the shorter route

t1 = time it took to cover shorter route

x2 = the longer route

v2 = speed of the car in the longer route

t2 = time it took to cover longer route

x1 + 43 = x2   (1)

v2 = v1 -2   (2)

v2 = x2/t2 = x2/6

v1 = x1/t1 = x1/5

This means that

v2 = v1 -2   =>

x2/6 = x1/5 -2

The system of equations results

a.   x1 -x2 = -43

b.  x1/5 - x2/6 = 2

Solving this system of equations, we find that

x1 = 275 miles

x2 = 318 miles
