A solution contains Al3 and Co2 . The addition of 0.3868 L of 1.707 M NaOH results in the complete precipitation of the ions as

Al(OH)3 and Co(OH)2 . The total mass of the precipitate is 23.36 g . Find the masses of Al3 and Co2 in the solution.

Answer:

See Explanation

Explanation:

Number of moles of NaOH = 0.3868 L × 1.707 M = 0.660 moles

Reaction of Al^3+ and OH^-

Al^3+(aq) + 3OH^-(aq) -----> Al(OH)3(s)

If 1 mole of Al3+ reacts with 3 moles of OH^-

x moles of Al^3+ reacts with 0.660 moles of OH^-

x = 1 × 0.660/3

x= 0.22 moles

Mass of Al^3+ = 0.22 moles × 27 g/mol = 5.94 g of Al^3+

Co^2+(aq) + 2OH^-(aq) ----> Co(OH)2(s)

1 mole of Co^+ reacts with 2 moles of OH^-

x moles of Co^2+ reacts with 0.660 moles of OH^-

x = 1 × 0.660/2 = 0.33 moles

Mass of Co^2+ = 0.33 moles × 59 g/mol = 19.47 g

If you have 250 mL of 0.75 M LINO2.<br> How many grams of this substance<br> would you have?
Vesna [10]

Mass of this substance = 9.928 g

<h3>Further explanation</h3>

Molarity is a way to express the concentration of the solution

Molarity shows the number of moles of solute in every 1 liter of solute or mmol in each ml of solution

\large{\boxed {\bold {M ~ = ~ \frac {n} {V}}}

Where

M = Molarity

n = Number of moles of solute

V = Volume of solution

So to find the number of moles can be expressed as

\boxed{\bold{n=V\times M}}

mol of substance -Lithium nitrite - LiNO₂ :

V = 250 ml = 0.25 L

M = 0.75 M

\tt n=0.25\times 0.75=0.1875

So mass of this substance -  LiNO₂ (MW=52,947 g/mol) :

\tt mass=mol\times MW\\\\mass=0.1875\times 52,947 g/mol\\\\mass=9.928~g

An object with a mass of 15kg is accelerating at 10m/s2. What is the force carried by this object
sladkih [1.3K]

Answer: 150N

Explanation:

The formula to calculate the force will be the mass multiplied by the acceleration. In this case, mass = 15kg and acceleration = 10m/s². Therefore, force will be:

= Mass × Acceleration

= 15 × 10

= 150N

The force is 150Newton
