For a demonstration, a professor uses a razor blade to cut a thin slit in a piece of aluminum foil. When she shines a laser poin

ter (λ=680nm) through the slit onto a screen 5.5 m away, a diffraction pattern appears. The bright band in the center of the pattern is 7.9 cm wide.What is the width of the slit? answer in mm.

Answer:

a=0.0947mm

Explanation:

Given data

λ=680nm

L=5.5m

ω=7.9cm=0.079m

To find

Width of slit a

Solution

As the single slit of width a has a bright central maximum of width:

ω=2λL/a

a=2λL/ω

Substitute the given values

So

a=\frac{2*680*10^{-9}m*5.5m}{0.079m} \\a=9.47*10^{-5}m\\or\\a=0.0947mm

A 34kg crate resting on a horizontal surface is pushed as shown. If the coefficient of static friction s between the surfaces is
ioda

Answer:

D (not so sure, look in the explanation and judge yourself)

Explanation:

Assume that the acceleration due to gravity is 9.81 m/s^2 downwards

Minimum force required = 0.25 x 34 x 9.81

= 83.385 N

So technically the force need to be greater than 83.385 so the answer should be d, not really sure if it should be b though really depends on the acceleration due to gravity.

Can the velocity of a body revese the direction when acceleration is constant?
andriy [413]

Answer:

Yes, the velocity of the object can reverse direction when its acceleration is constant. For example consider that the velocity of any object at any time t is given as: ... At At t = 0 sec, the magnitude of velocity is 2m/s and is moving in the forward direction i.e.v (t) = -2.
