Blank D :

What does it mean when the ratio of person 1’s income to person 2’s incomes is 1 to 3 or 3 to 1? Explain.
viktelen [127]

Answer with explanation:

3:1 means that person 1's income is three times person 2's income.

E.g.: if person 1 gets 150 per hour, person 2 gets 30 per hour.

1:3 means that person 1's income is one third of person 2's income.

E.g.: if person 1 gets 40 per hour, person 2 gets 120 per hour.

Why do I keep asking questions? I don’t know but... I need help with number 5. I need and equation! Answer quick and thorough. L
lilavasa [31]
Would surely like to see you begin the problem solution yourself and to share what you have done.

Let the girl's age be J and the father's F.

J=5 and F=42 now.

In x years, the father will be twice as old as the girl.

We write that as   F + x = 2( J + x), or 42 + x = 2( 5 + x)

Then 42 + x = 10 + 2x      => x = 32

check:  is 42+32 = 2(5+32)?   Is 74 = 2(37)?  YES.

The answer: "5 years from now."
