It was not until 2015 that the United States re-established diplomatic relations with Cuba, due to the island´s slow turn from a radical Communism, to a more open system of government. However, changes have been slow, and democracy is still not re-established as the ruling system of government. If this were ever to take place, full commercial and political relations would be re-established with the island as a consequence.
