Answer:

Speed of boat in still water = 11 miles per hour.

Step-by-step explanation:

Speed = distance / time

or

Distance= Speed * time

Let s be speed of the boat upstream and r be the speed of the river.

Then

Upstream speed=  s- r = 60/6= 10 miles per hour

Downstream speed= s+r= 72/6= 12 miles per hour

Therefore

s-r= 10--------- equation A

s+r= 12--------- equation B

Adding equation A and Eq. b

s-r= 10--------- equation A

<u>s+r= 12--------- equation B     </u>

<u>2s    = 22                             </u>

<u />

or

s= 22/2= 11 miles per hour.

Speed of boat in still water = 11 miles per hour.

20pts<br> how do you solve 3x-2y=14?
Furkat [3]
X(3) - Y(2) = 14. So you need numbers that will multiply by 3 and a number that multiply by 2 that will equal 14.
The x can be 10 (equals 30) and then y can be 8 (equals 16).
30 subtracted by 16 equals 14.

ANSWER:

X = 10 Y = 16
3(10) - 2(8) = 14

Hope this helped. Have a great day. A thank you and (or) brainliest is always appreciated. Goodbye!

1. The weekly ad for a local grocery store advertises a 5 pound bag of organic apples for $13.95. Round each rate to the nearest
kaheart [24]

Answer:

(a). Weight of the bag of organic apples for advertising = 5 pound

Cost of the advertisement of 5 pound bag of organic apples = $13.95

Now, to find the unit rates :

Cost of advertising 5 pound bag of organic apple = $13.95

\text{Cost of advertising 1 pound bag of organic apple = }\frac{13.95}{5}=\$2.79

Hence, unit rate of advertising 1 pound of organic apples = $2.79

$13.95 is charged for advertisement of 5 pound of organic apples

\$\text{1 will be charged for advertisement of }\frac{5}{13.95}=0.36\text{ pounds}

Hence, one unit or $1 is charged for advertisement of 0.36 pounds of organic apples.

(b) Cost of 5 pound is given to be $13.95

So, the rate which is typically used in the given problem is : Dollars per pound.
