In cell biology, the centrosome is the main microtubule organizing center that is important for cell division. The major function of the centrosome is to maintain the chromosome number during cell division.
Other function of centrosome during cell division include initiate the changes in cell membrane shape through phagocytosis and organize microtubules in mitosis that ensures the distribution of the centrosomes into daughter cell.
