At an output level of 84,000 units, you calculate that the degree of operating leverage is 1.80. Suppose fixed costs are $180,00

0. a. What is the operating cash flow at 78,000 units? (Do not round intermediate calculations and round your answer to the nearest whole number, e.g., 32.) b. What is the new degree of operating leverage? (Do not round intermediate calculations and round your answer to 3 decimal places, e.g., 32.161

Answer:

The operating cash flow is $196,071 and the new degree of operating leverage is 1.918

Explanation:

a. The computation of operating cash flow is shown below:

By using the information, first we have to calculate the contribution amount.

We know that the operating leverage equals to

Operating leverage = Contribution ÷ EBIT

And, Contribution  = Fixed cost + EBIT

So,

1.80 =  Fixed cost + EBIT ÷ EBIT

1.80 EBIT - EBIT = Fixed cost

0.80 EBIT = $180,000

So, EBIT = $180,000 ÷ 0.80 = $225,000

And, the contribution = $180,000 + $225,000 = $405,000

Contribution is calculated for 84,000 units but we have to compute for 78,000 units

So, contribution for 78,000 units will be equals to

= $405,000 × 78,000 ÷ 84,000

= $376,071.43

So, the operating cash flow would be

= $376,071.43 - $180,000

= $196,071.43

b. The new degree of operating leverage equals to

=  $376,071.43 ÷ $196,071.43

= 1.918

Hence, the operating cash flow is $196,071 and the new degree of operating leverage is 1.918

During 2020, Stellar Furniture Company purchases a carload of wicker chairs. The manufacturer sells the chairs to Stellar for a
Ber [7]

Answer:

What is the amount of gross profit realized during 2020?

(460 x $33.30) + (230 x $29.60) + (276 x $18.50) = $27,232

What is the amount of inventory of unsold straight chairs on December 31, 2020?

[(920 - 460) x $56.70] + [(690 - 230) x $50.40] + [(1,610 - 276) x $31.50] = $26,082 + $23,184 + $42,021 = $91,287

Explanation:

lump sum cost of chairs = $137,655

Type                     Chairs       Selling Price Each       Total

Lounge chairs       920                     $90                 $82,800

Armchairs              690                     $80                   $55,20

<u>Straight chairs      1,610                     $50                $80,500</u>

total                      3,220                                          $218,500

if we allocate costs based on resale, then each chair should cost:

Lounge chairs $90 x ($137,655 / $218,500) = $56.70

Armchairs $80 x ($137,655 / $218,500) = $50.40

Straight chairs $50 x ($137,655 / $218,500) = $31.50

contribution margin per chair:

Lounge chairs $90 - $56.70 = $33.30

Armchairs $80 - $50.40 = $29.60

Straight chairs $50 - $31.50 = $18.50

The market value of Fords' equity, preferred stock, and debt are $ 7 billion, $ 2 billion, and $ 15 billion, respectively.
Stolb23 [73]

Answer:

Ford's weighted average cost of capital is 8.22 %

Explanation:

Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) is the minimum return that the company expect from a project. It shows the risk of the company.

Calculation of WACC

WACC = Cost of equity + Cost of preferred stock + Cost of debt

Capital Source       Market Values     Weight      Cost      Total Cost

equity                         $ 7 billion          29.17%      13.6%       3.97 %

preferred stock         $ 2 billion            8.33%      12%          1.00 %

debt                           $ 15 billion         62.50%     5.2 %       3.25%

Total                          $ 24 billion                                          8.22 %

Cost of equity = Risk free rate + Beta × Risk Premium

                       =  4% + 1.2 × 8%

                       =  13.6%

Cost of preferred stock = Dividend/Market Price

                                       = $ 3/ $ 25 × 100

                                       = 12%

Cost of debt = interest × (1- tax rate)

                    = 8% × (1-0.35)

                    = 5.2 %
