Answer:

The rate of change is 1/2 and the y-intercept is 1

Step-by-step explanation:

You can calulate the rate of change by picking two points on the graph and using the slope formula

(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

so in this example you can use the points (2,2) represeting (x1,y1) and (4,3) representing (x2,y2)

When you plug into the slope formula you get:

(3-2)/(4-2) = 1/2 which is the slope.

The y-intercept is where the line intersects the y=axis and can be  seen as the coordinate pair (0, #) where the # is the y intercept. From the graph you can see the y-intercept is 1, but you can aslo solve for the y-intercept using the slope-intercept equation:

y=mx+b

where b is the y-intercept and m is the slope.

so using a slope of 1/2 and a coordinate of (2,2) you get:

y-2=(1/2)(x-2)

y = (1/2x)-1+2

y = (1/2x) + 1

so now the equation is in slope-intecept form and you can see the slope is 1/2 and the y-intercept is 1

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Using the equation of line

y - y_1 = m(x - x_1)

y = mx + C

First first the slope of the equation

y = 9x - 4

Note: if two lines are perpendicular, their slope will be negative reciprocal

Slope = 9, but because it is perpendicular

m = -1/9

Using the equation

y - y_1 = m(x - x_1)

With the point (-9,-17)

x_1 = -9

y_1 = -17

y - (-17) = -1/9(x - (-9)

y + 17 = -1/9(x + 9)

y = -1/9(x + 9) - 17

Open the bracket.

y = (-x -9)/9 - 17

Lcm is 9

y = -x -9 - 153 / 9

y = -x - 162 / 9

Let's separate

y = -x/9 - 162/9

y = -x/9 - 18

y = -1/9x - 18

Therefore, the equation of the line is y = -1/9x - 18

In 2013, selected automobiles had an average cost of $16,000. The average cost of those same automobiles is now $20,000. What wa
Illusion [34]

Answer:

25%

Step-by-step explanation:

The average cost of the automobile in 2013 is $16,000

The present cost now is $20,000

Therefore the rate of increase between the two automobiles can be calculated as follows

= 20,000-16,000/16,000

= 4,000/16,000

= 0.25×100

= 25%

Hence the rate of increase is 25%
