Soccer fields vary in size. a large soccer field is 115 m long and 85 m wide. what are its dimensions in feet and inches? (assum
Irina18 [472]

The dimension of soccer field in ft is 377.315 ft long and 277.885 ft in width.

The dimension of soccer field in ft is 4527.78 in long and 3334.62 in in width.

As it is given that 1 m =3.281 ft

Therefore the length of the soccer field in ft is

115*3.281=377.315 ft

And width of the field is 85*3.281=277.885 ft

We know that 1 ft =12 in

Therefore the length of the soccer field in in is

377.315*12=4527.78 in

And width of the field is 277.885 *12=3334.62 in

A cliff diver from the top of a 100 (m) cliff. He begins his dive by jumping up with a velocity of 5 (m/s) a. How
Nutka1998 [239]

Answer:

A.) 4.81 seconds

B.) 44.6 m/s

Explanation:

He begins his dive by jumping up with a velocity of 5 (m/s).

Let us first calculate the maximum height reached by using third equation of motion

V^2 = U^2 - 2gH

At maximum height, V = 0

0 = 5^5 - 2 × 9.8H

19.6H = 25

H = 25 /19.6

H = 1.28 m

The time taken for the diver to reach the water from the maximum height can be calculated by using second equation of motion.

Where height h = 1.28 + 100 = 101.28 m

h = Ut + 1/2gt^2

As the diver drop from maximum height, U = 0

101.28 = 1/2 × 9.8 × t^2

4.9t^2 = 101.28

t^2 = 101.28/4.9

t^2 = 20.669

t = sqrt ( 20.669)

t = 4.55s

As the diver jumped up, the time taken to reach the maximum height will be

Time = 1.28 / 5 = 0.256

The time taken for him to hit the water below will be 0.256 + 4.55 = 4.81 seconds

B.) Velocity right before he hits the water will be

V^2 = U^2 + 2gH

But U = 0

V^2 = 2 × 9.8 × 101.28

V^2 = 1985.09

V = 44.6 m/s

A spring with a constant of 16 N/m has 98 J of energy stored in it when it is extended. How far is the spring extended?
Alchen [17]

The spring has been extended for 3.5 m

Explanation:

We have the formula,

PE =1/2 K X²

Rewrite the equation as

PE=1/2 K d²

multiply both the sides by 2/K to simplify the equation

2/k . PE= 1/2 K d² . 2/K

√d²=√2PE/K

Cancelling the root value and now we have,

d=√2PE/k

d=√2×98 J / 16N/m

d=√12.25

d=3.5 m

The spring has been extended for 3.5 m
