Dry ice is carbon dioxide in the solid state. 1.28 grams of dry ice is placed in a 5.00 L chamber that is maintained at 35.1°C.

What is the pressure in the chamber after all of the dry ice has sublimed? Assume ideal gas behavior.

Answer:

0.15atm

Explanation:

Given parameters:

Mass of dry ice = 1.28g

Volume of chamber  = 5L

Temperature  = 35.1°C = 35.1 + 273  = 308.1K

Unknown:

Pressure in the chamber  = ?

Solution:

As we assume ideality for the gases in the cylinder, we use the equation below to solve the problem;

             PV  = nRT

P is the pressure

V  is the volume

n is the number of moles

R is the gas constant  = 0.082atmdm³mol⁻¹k⁻¹

T is the temperature

 Let us find the number of moles;

       Molar mass of CO₂  = 12 + 2(16) = 44g/mol

  Number of moles of  CO₂ = \frac{mass}{molar mass}

  Number of moles of CO₂  = \frac{1.28}{44}   = 0.03moles

 So;

Input the parameters and solve;

        P x 5  = 0.03 x 0.082 x 308.1

         5P  = 0.73

           P = \frac{0.73}{5}   = 0.15atm

What is the reaction quotient, Q, for this system when [N2] = 2.00 M, [H2] = 2.00 M, and [NH3] = 1.00 M at 472°C?
cupoosta [38]

Answer : The value of reaction quotient, Q is 0.0625.

Solution : Given,

Concentration of N_2 = 2.00 M

Concentration of H_2 = 2.00 M

Concentration of NH_3 = 1.00 M

Reaction quotient : It is defined as a concentration of a chemical species involved in the chemical reaction.

The balanced equilibrium reaction is,

N_2+3H_2\rightleftharpoons 2NH_3

The expression of reaction quotient for this reaction is,

Q=\frac{[Product]^p}{[Reactant]^r}\\Q=\frac{[NH_3]^2}{[N_2]^1[H_2]^3}

Now put all the given values in this expression, we get

Q=\frac{(1.00)^2}{(2.00)^1(2.00)^3}=0.0625

Therefore, the value of reaction quotient, Q is 0.0625.

Where did the mass of the forest tress come from? What happen to that mass when the forest burns?
mart [117]

Answer:

The mass of the forest comes from carbon and carbon is retrieved from carbon-dioxide that trees used during the process of photosynthesis. In the process of photosynthesis, carbon-dioxide is utilised from the atmosphere by trees and release oxygen and ATP.

When the forest burns the mass again releases to atmosphere in the form of carbon which causes air pollution and increases carbon content in the atmosphere.
