Given :

Fitness center A has a $60 enrollment fee and costs $35 per month. Fitness center B has no enrollment fee and costs $45 per month.

To Find :

A) Identity the variables then write system of linear equations to represent the situation.

B) In how many months will both fitness centers cost the same? What will the cost be? Use the substitution method to solve this real-world application.

Solution :

a) Linear equation of center A :

F = 35x + 60 ...1)

Linear equation of center B :

F = 45x ...2)

b) Let, after n months both fitness centers cost the same fee :

So, 35m + 60 = 45m

10m = 60

m = 6 months

Putting value of m in equation 1) or 2) is :

F = (35×6) + 60 = $270 or F = 45×6 = $270 .

Therefore, the cost when they have same fee is $270 .

Hence, this is the required solution.

how much interest will roxanne have to pay if she borrows $3,000 for 3 years at a simple interest rate of 2%
Darya [45]
Simpe interest rate = PRT/100
— ( principal x rate x time ) / 100

$3,000 is the principal
3 years is the time
2% is the rate

so, PRT/100
(3,000 x 3 x 2) / 100
= $180

Answer : $180

louise skip counts by 4 on a number line to find 5 x 4 how many jumps should she draw in the number line
saul85 [17]

Answer:

It depends:

 • 4 if she starts at 4
 • 5 if she starts at 0

Explanation:

Louise needs to end up a total of 5 times 4 away from zero.

If she starts at 4, which is 1 times 4, then she needs to jump 4 more times, to 2, 3, 4, 5 times 4.

If she starts at 0, then she needs to jump 5 times to 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 times 4. (The values at the end of each jump will be {4, 8, 12, 16, 20}.)
