The pOH of a solution : 13.756

<h3>Further explanation</h3>

Mass HCl=10.4 g

mol HCl (MW=36.5 g/mol) :

\tt mol=\dfrac{mass}{MW}=\dfrac{10.4}{36.5}=0.285

Volume of HCl = 500 ml = 0.5 L

\tt M=\dfrac{n}{V}\\\\M=\dfrac{0.285}{0.5}=0.57~M

HCl ⇒ H⁺ + Cl⁻

[H⁺]=[HCl]=0.57 M

pH= - log[H⁺]

pH=-log[0.57]=0.244

pH+pOH=14

pOH=14-0.244

pOH=13.756

How many grams of oxygen are required to react with 13.0 grams of octane (C8H18) in the combustion of octane in gasoline?
egoroff_w [7]

Grams of oxygen are required to react with 13.0 grams of octane (C8H18) in the combustion of octane in gasoline is 45.5g

Octane is a hydrocarbon which burns in gasoline in presence of oxygen according to the given balanced chemical equation,

2C₈H₁₈ + 25O₂------> 16CO₂ + 18H₂0

Molar mass of octane = 114.23g/mol

Molar mass of Oxygen = 32g/mol

According to the stiochiometry of the balanced equation the mole ratio of Octane and Oxygen is 2:25

2 mole of octane needs 25 mole of oxygen

1 mole of octane needs 12.5 moleof oxygen

114.23g of octane needs 400g of oxygen

13g   of octane  needs 45.5g of oxygen

Mass of oxygen needed =45.5g

Hence, the Mass of oxygen needed is 45.5g for the combustion of octane in gasoline.

Tara predicts the number of paper clips attracted by the magnet
muminat

The responding variable refers to the variable that changes as the independent variable is being manipulated. In this case, the responding variable is the number of paper clips attracted by the magnet.

An experiment must include a dependent (responding) variable and an independent variable. As the independent variable is manipulated during the experiment, the dependent (responding) variable changes accordingly.

In this case; the independent variable is temperature while the dependent (responding) variable is the number of paper clips attracted by the magnet.

Calculate the number of O atoms in 0.150 g of CaSO4 · 2H2O.
natulia [17]

Answer:

There are 0.00523 moles of oxygen in 0.150 grams of calcium sulfate crystal.

Explanation:

Mass of calcium sulfate crystal = m = 0.150 g

Molar mass of calcium sulfate crystal = M = 172 g/mol

Moles of magnesium nitrate = n

n=\frac{m}{M}

n=\frac{0.150 g}{172 g/mol}=0.0008721 mol

1 mole of calcium sulfate crystal has 6 moles of oxygen atoms. Then 0.004446 moles calcium sulfate crystal will have :

6\times 0.0008721 mol=0.0052326mol\approx 0.00523 mol

There are 0.00523 moles of oxygen in 0.150 grams of calcium sulfate crystal.

Which activity performed by a chemist is primarily based on an understanding of physics?
Hatshy [7]
Physical science, is the study of the composition, structure, properties and change of matter.[1][2] Chemistry is chiefly concerned with atoms and their interactions with other atoms - for example, [ the properties of the chemical bonds formed between atoms to create chemical compounds. As well as this, interactions including atoms and other phenomena - electrons and various forms of energy—are
