A solution contains 1 LaTeX: \times\:×10−4 M OH– ions. Calculate the solution pH value, and determine if the solution is acidic,
docker41 [41]

Answer:

pH = 10

The solution is basic.

Explanation:

A solution contains 1 × 10⁻⁴ M OH⁻ ions. First, we will calculate the pOH.

pOH = -log [OH⁻]

pOH = -log 1 × 10⁻⁴

pOH = 4

We can find the pH of the solution using the following expression.

pH + pOH = 14.00

pH = 14.00 - pOH = 14.00 - 4 = 10

Since the pH > 7, the solution is basic.

Solutions can only be separated by using distillation not filtration. Why can't a solution be filtered? Explain using the terms
garri49 [273]

Solutions

Explanation:

 • Solutions are formed when a solute gets dissolved in a solvent. The solid that gets dissolved is called solute whereas the liquid in which the solid gets dissolved is called the solvent. On dissolving, the particles of the solute gets incorporated between the inter-particle space of the solvent. This means that there is no significant difference between the particle size of solute and solvent. However the boiling points of solutions can differ significantly. This is the reason, the solutions cannot be separated by the method of filtration but by the method of distillation.

Which of the following are indicators of a chemical change?
artcher [175]
Hey there!
Chemical changes are changes in object's chemical compounds and chemical compositions, and often can't be reversed.
Here's an example:
If you have a piece of paper and you happen to burn it, that can't be reversed.
In other words, it can't be "un-burned". Nothing can restore it to its previous state.
Hopefully this helped!
