A motorist driving home one night on a desolate two-lane road stopped when he saw a person lying on the road next to a bicycle.

The cyclist had slipped and fallen off his bicycle, and was knocked unconscious when he hit his head on the pavement. Not wishing to get involved and seeing that no one else was around, the motorist got back into his car and drove away without making any effort to help the cyclist, even though he had a cell phone with which he could have summoned aid. The cyclist remained lying in the same place and was later struck by another car.
