I will solve this equation simultaneously by Substitution.

- x + y = 2
5x + 4y = 17

Solve - x + y = 2 for y:
- x + y + x = 2 + x (here we add x to both sides)
y = x + 2

Substitute x + 2 for y in 5x + 4y = 17
5x + 4y = 17
5x + 4(x + 2) = 17
5x + 4x + 8 = 17
9x + 8 = 17 (simplify both sides of the equation)
9x + 8 + (-8) = 17 + (-8) (add -8 to both sides)
9x = 9
9x/9 = 9/9 (divide both sides by 9)

x = 1

Substitute 1 for x in y = x + 2
y = x + 2
y = 1 + 2
y = 3 ( simplify both sides of the equation)

Therefore x = 1 and y = 3

Henri has $24,000 invested in stocks and bonds. The amount in stocks is $6,000 more than three times the amount in bonds. Call t
makvit [3.9K]

Answer:

The solve of that problem is that Hernry invested $18.000 in stocks and $6.000 in bonds.

Step-by-step explanation:

First, to explain you have to do a multiplication about 6 on three. Like three times more than bonds, the result is 18. Then you have to do a  subtraction on $24.000 less $18.000, and the result is $6.000, so six is the amount on bonds. And is three times less than stocks, like the questions ask.

Varvara68 [4.7K]

Answer:

The cluster from 4 p.m.–10 p.m. means that most of the texts were sent in the afternoon and evening.

More texts were sent from 6 p.m.–8 p.m. than from 8 p.m.–10 p.m.

Step-by-step explanation:

From 6 a m to 8 a m there were 15 texts,

8 to10 a m: 5, 10 a m to 12 p m: 0,

12 p m to 2 p m: 0,

2 p m to 4 p m: 0,

4 to 6 p m: 29,

6 to 8 p m: 19,

8 to 9 p m, 14,
