In any participatory study or assignment, consent is needed if you wants participant to be involved in your research or study. Consent in this scenario is permission to be involved in a study or not.

The use of voluntary participation uses the principle that participants to be used in a study or research must choose to participate or be involved on/of their own free will.

Pssive Consent

This is simply defined as the act of no response is taken to be an affirmative consent to participate in research. It is also called "opt out informed consent". This type of consent is mostly used for parental consent for children's participation in school based research.

It is the act of giving consent by not returning consent form. Parents only sign and return consent from when declining participation. This is usually not consistent with APA standards.
