Given:

The sequence is

1, 4, 16, 64

To find:

The general term of the given sequence.

Solution:

We have, the sequence

1, 4, 16, 64

Here, the ratio between two consecutive terms is same. So, it is a geometric sequence.

First term is:

a=1

Common ratio is:

r=\dfrac{a_2}{a_1}

r=\dfrac{4}{1}

r=4

The nth term of a geometric sequence is

a_n=ar^{n-1}             ...(i)

Where, a is the first term and r is the common ratio.

Putting a=1 and r=4 in (i), we get

a_n=(1)(4)^{n-1}

a_n=4^{n-1}

Therefore, the general term of the given sequence is a_n=4^{n-1}.

There are 5 green skittles, 4 orange skittles, and 3 red Skittles in a bag. What is the probability of red Skittle, Not replacin
anyanavicka [17]

Answer:

3/12

Step-by-step explanation:

the entire bag has 12 skittles. there are only 3 red. This gives a fraction of red skittles/entire bag in order to get the probability. So this would be 3/12 in this most basic sense? I am not sure if you need to go further than this or not. Hope this helps!

Joel started 5 miles west of home, and ended 5 miles east of home. How far did he travel?
stepan [7]

His displacement ... the distance between his start point and
his end point ... was 10 miles.  But we don't know what route
he followed on the way, so we don't know how much distance
he actually walked or drove.  It couldn't be less than 10 miles,
but it could be any distance more than 10 miles.

Suzie simplified the following expression. What mistake did she make?
Bess [88]
She forgot to distribute the 2 fully.
ie. After the 3 to the 9x.
It should have been,
2(3 + 9x) - 2x
6 + 18x - 2x
6 + 16x
