Answer:

Lol this is my first time seeing someone saying I bet no one will answer this. Ok coming back to the topic answers are :-

Initial value = -18

Initial value is the output value or the y variable. Looking in the table the y variable is -18 since x is 0.

Rate of change = 0.5

You have to use the formula of rate of change to find the answer. You can choose any pairs from the table and will give you the same answer. I pick the first pair and the last pair to find my rate of change.

(0, -18) and (36, 0)

x1, y1 x2, y2

Rate of change = y2 - y 1 / x2 - x1

Rate of change = 0 - (-18) / 36 - 0

Rate of change = 18 / 36

Rate of change = 0.5

Hope this helps, thank you :) !!

Which property was used to simplify the expression?<br><br> (3z)^2 = 3^2z^2 = 9z^2
svet-max [94.6K]
One of the product rules for exponents was used.
(ab)^{c}=a^{c}b^{c}

Or, you can consider that the definition of an exponent and the associative and commutative properties of multiplication were used.
(3z)^{2}\\=(3z)(3z)\\=3\cdot 3\cdot z\cdot z\\=3^{2}z^{2}\\=9z^{2}

Brighten is an expression that shows how to multiply 7 * 256 using expanded form and distributive property
charle [14.2K]

I am not familiar with "brighten" but this is how you can expand and use the distributive property:

 7(256)

= 7(200 + 50 + 6)

= 7(200) + 7(50) + 7(6)

= 1400 + 350 + 30

= 1780

Does a vending machine represent a function and why?
OLEGan [10]
Sure, depending on how the machine is constructed or programmed.

A function can represent any process that takes some input and assigns exactly one output to it. In the case of a simple vending machine, there could one button or sequence of button presses that correspond to the delivery of a certain drink or snack (provided that enough money is fed into the machine first).

A machine that wouldn't qualify as representing a function would be one that consistently offers two or more different drinks.

15. Tim buys a new computer for his office for $1200. For tax purposes, he declares a linear depreciation (loss of value) of $20
Leokris [45]

Answer:

<em>Slope is -200 and y-intercept is at (0, 1200)</em>

<em>The linear equation is:  y=-200x+1200</em>

<em>The value of the computer after 4.5 years will be $300.</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

Value of the new computer is $1200

For tax purposes, the linear depreciation (loss of value) is $200 per year.

So after x years, total loss of value will be:  \$200x

If y is the declared value of the computer after x years, then the linear equation will be.......

y=1200-200x\\ \\ \Rightarrow y=-200x+1200

If we compare the above equation with slope-intercept form(y=mx+b), then we will get:  m=-200 and b=1200

So, the slope of the line will be -200 and y-intercept will be at (0, 1200)

After 4.5 years means x=4.5

So when x=4.5,  y=-200(4.5)+1200=-900+1200=300

Thus, the value of the computer after 4.5 years will be $300.
