"TB" stands for "Tuberculosis." It is a disease which is caused by a bacteria called "Mycobacterium tuberculosis."
An individual with a latent TB infection means that he has TB yet is not showing symptoms from it. The person doesn't feel sick–which means, no night sweats, chills, fever and inflammation. He will also have no cough nor will he feel fatigued. However, if a skin test will be done on him, he will have a positive PPD (Purified Protein Derivative). This is because he has the bacteria in his lungs, but they are "not active."
