A bus traveled on a level road for 4 hours at an average speed of 20 miles per hour faster than it traveled on a winding road. T

To solve this problem, we must recall that the formula for velocity assuming linear motion:

v = d / t

Where,

v = velocity

d = distance

t = time

For condition 1: bus travelling on a level road

v1 = d1 / t1

<span>(v2 + 20) = (449 – d2) / 4                        --->1</span>

For condition 2: bus travelling on a winding road

v2 = d2 / t2

<span>v2 = d2 / 5                                            --->2</span>

Combining equations 1 and 2:

(d2 / 5) + 20 = (449 – d2) / 4

0.8 d2 + 80 = 449 – d2

1.8 d2 = 369

d2 = 205 miles

Using equation 2, find for v2:

v2 = 205 / 5

v2 = 41 mph

Since v1 = v2 + 20

v1 = 41 + 20

v1 = 61 mph

Therefore <span>the average speed on the level road is 61 mph.</span>

In 1987, the population of country A was estimated at 87 million people, with an annual growth rate of 3.5%. The 1987 population
KATRIN_1 [288]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that in 1987, the population of country A was estimated at 87 million people, with an annual growth rate of 3.5%

Thus the equation for population for country A would be

P(A) = 87e^{0.035t}

The 1987 population of country B was estimated at 243 million with an annual growth rate of 0.6%.

So equation for population for country B would be

P(B) = 243e^{0.006t} where t = time in years and P in millions

a) P(A) = 2*87 when

2=e^{0.035t}

Take log and solve

ln 2 = 0.005 t

t = 138.63

Thus after 138 years population will double for A

b) P(A) = P(B) when

P(A) = 87e^{0.035t}=P(B) = 243e^{0.006t}\\e^{0.035t-0.006t}=\frac{243}{87} =2.793\\0.029t = 1.027\\t= 35.42

Approximately after 35.5 years the populations of both countries would be equal.

Yuliya22 [10]

Answer:

(3, 3) × 13 = (39, 39)

(0, 3) × 13 = (0, 39)

(6, -6) × 13 = (78, -78)

(9, 6) × 13 = (117, 78)

Step-by-step explanation:

Because the center of dilation is at (0, 0), or the origin, we can just multiply the x and y values of each point by the scale factor of 13.

(3, 3) × 13 = (39, 39)

(0, 3) × 13 = (0, 39)

(6, -6) × 13 = (78, -78)

(9, 6) × 13 = (117, 78)
