A] This question can be modeled by simultaneous equation this is because the question requires to find the value of two unknowns. It is normally used in the situations where two or more unknown variables are referred to, these unknowns are normally related to each other through equal number of equations that are to be solved in order to obtain finite number of solutions.

b] the solution to the system will first be obtained through forming the equations, these equations are:
x is the amount of 20% blend
y is the amount of 80% blend.
therefore:
x+y=5
hence:
y=5-x...........i
next we have:
0.2x+0.8y=0.6×5....ii
to solve the equations we substitute i in ii as follows:
0.2x+0.8(5-x)=3
0.2x+4-0.8x=3
0.2x-0.8x=3-4
-0.6x=-1
x=5/3
y=5-x=5-5/3=10/3
therefore:
5/3 lb of 20% blend and 10/3 lb of 80% blend.

The probability of choosing a blue marble is 3/6 or 1/2 because 1/3 +1/6 equals 3/6. Meaning that only 3/6 is left over for blue's probability.

7.1 A player throws a fair die and simultaneously flips a fair coin. If the coin lands heads, then she wins twice, and if tails,
Tcecarenko [31]

Answer:

1.875

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the expected winnings, we need to find the probability of all cases possible, multiply each case by the value of the case, and sum all these products.

In the die, we have 6 possible values, each one with a probability of 1/6, and the value of each output is half the value in the die, so we have:

E_1 = \frac{1}{6}\frac{1}{2}  + \frac{1}{6}\frac{2}{2} +\frac{1}{6}\frac{3}{2} +\frac{1}{6}\frac{4}{2} +\frac{1}{6}\frac{5}{2} +\frac{1}{6}\frac{6}{2}

E_1 = \frac{1}{12}(1+2+3+4+5+6)

E_1 = \frac{21}{12} = \frac{7}{4}

Now, analyzing the coin, we have heads or tails, each one with 1/2 probability. The value of the heads is 2 wins, and the value of the tails is the expected value of the die we calculated above, so we have:

E_2 = \frac{1}{2}2  + \frac{1}{2}E_1

E_2 = 1  + \frac{1}{2}\frac{7}{4}

E_2 = 1  + \frac{7}{8}

E_2 = \frac{15}{8} = 1.875

The probability that Paul wins a raffle is given by the expression n/n + 6 . What is the expression, in the form of a combined s
tangare [24]

Answer:

The probability that he doesn’t win is 6/(n + 6)

Step-by-step explanation:

Mathematically, the probability that an event occur is 1 minus the probability that the event doe not occur.

Thus, what we are saying here is that the sum of the probabilities that Paul wins the raffle draw and he doesn’t win the raffle draw is 1

This can be mathematically expressed as;

probability that he doesn’t win = 1 - probability that he wins

Thus we have;

1- n/(n+ 6)

= [(n+ 6) -(n)]/(n+6) = 6/n+ 6
