The solid on the copper square after the experiment is called copper acetate. Write a word equation to represent what happened t

o substances in the experiment. Label the reactants and products in the equation. Does acid rain make new substances? Construct an argument that uses data from this investigation as evidence for your claim.

Answer:

See explanation

Explanation:

The word equation for the formation of copper acetate is as follows;

copper + vinegar → copper II oxide → copper acetate

Copper and vinegar are reactants while the copper acetate is the product

Note that vinegar is a weak solution of acetic acid. Pure copper does not react with acetic acid (copper is less than hydrogen in the electrochemical series); however, a reactive oxide layer is formed upon exposure to air. This layer interacts with non-oxidizing acids to give green copper(II) compounds (DeMeo, 1997; Tétreault et al., 2003), a typical example of such compounds is the copper(II) acetate formed in the word equation above.

Acid rain forms new substances because it is capable of interacting chemically with surfaces. When substances are exposed to acid rain, they dissolve in water if they are soluble in acids to form new substances.

Draw the major 1,2- and 1,4-addition products that form as a result of the following reaction between one equivalent each of 2,4
lapo4ka [179]

The major 1,2- and 1,4-addition products are 4-Bromo-2-hexene and 2-Bromo-2-hexene.

What is Markovnikov Rule ?

Markovnikov rule explains that in addition reaction of alkene react with a hydrogen halide. The hydrogen atom is attached to the carbon atom that is already bonded to the greatest number of hydrogen.

What is Addition Reaction ?

An addition reaction is an organic reaction occur when two or more molecules combine to form a larger molecule without the loss of any atoms present in reactant.

Thus from the above conclusion we can say that The major 1,2- and 1,4-addition products are 4-Bromo-2-hexene and 2-Bromo-2-hexene.

How many total electrons are shared between two nitrogen atoms when they bond to form a diatomic nitrogen molecule?
GuDViN [60]

Explanation:

Diatomic Nitrogen molecule means the two atoms of nitrogen N_{2}.

 • A single nitrogen contains 5 electrons in its valence shell which has 3 single electrons and one pair of electron. When the bond is being made the three single electrons makes the covalent bond with the 3 electrons of other atom which results in 3 pairs . The total electrons shared between the atoms are 3 pairs (6 electrons) . while when it completes the octate the N_{2} is formed.
 • Nitrogen is colorless, odorless, tasteless and the inert diatomic gas.Nitrogen combines of near about 78% of Earth's atmosphere. It is non-flammable which does not support combustion , it occurs in all living organisms. Nitrogen is used in most of the Biological processes and also used in the formation of fertilizers, in the form of ammonia and ammonia based compounds. It is also used in Chemical Industries for making nylon , explosives, dyes and etc. The breathing of Nitrogen is deadly, as it displaces the oxygen.

How is the periodic table used to predict the properties of an element?
Novosadov [1.4K]
There are many ways to predict the properties of an element here's one example. As you move from left to right the electron affinity and ionization energy both increase .Since elements of the same family have similar characteristic, you can often predict the properties of another element in its family
