In prokaryotes, how does the length of a typical monocistronic mRNA compare to the length of the protein generated from this mRN
Nastasia [14]

1. The correct answer is: a. There are more mRNA bases than amino acids.

The transcription of monocistronic mRNA in prokaryotes is a rare process (it is more characteristic for the eukaryotes). Monocistronic mRNA is RNA, which encodes for only one or specific protein. Three bases of mRNA encode one amino acid of protein, thus it has more bases than amino acids of the final product, protein.

2. The correct statements are:

The mRNA contains 5' and 3' untranslated regions.

The stop codon does not code for an amino acid.

The start site of transcription is upstream of the start codon.

Each codon contains 3 RNA bases.

All of these approve that more bases are in mRNA since not all of them are translated into amin oacids.

Other statements are hallmarks of eukaryotic RNA processing, and therefore not relevant to prokaryotes.

9. Look closely at the illustration above. a. What process is occurring? b. What is being made? c. How can you tell?
mars1129 [50]
The answers are:

A. DNA replication in the nucleus of a cell
B. From one helix of DNA in a replication process, we get two: The DNA is a double helix and it consists of two strands of specifically connected amino-acids. When the time for replication comes, a set of enzymes unwind the two strands and leave them as a base for additional two strands attaching to them - the green line is an example of that. The free nucleotides - adenine, guanine, thymine and cytosine are left open and the enzyme called DNA-polymerase helps to produce a new strand on the template of the old parental one (one of the blue ones in the picture)
C. By the location on the smaller picture - replication takes place in the nucleus. And the most important hint are the letters A - adenine, G - guanine, T- thymine, and C-cytosine. A connects with T, and G connects with C.

The ________ is a region of dense bone that surrounds and protects the membranous labyrinth. vestibule membranous callus bony ca
Law Incorporation [45]

The bony labyrinth is a region of dense bone that surrounds and protects the membranous labyrinth.

Labyrinth is the name given to the inner ear. It is made up of a network of interconnecting sacs and canals. The inner ear is composed of two parts: bony labyrinth and membranous labyrinth. A vestibule, three semicircular canals, and a spirally wound cochlea make up the bony labyrinth. It is perilymph-filled.

The membranous labyrinth is encircled by the bony labyrinth. It includes the hearing and balance sensory receptors. The cochlear duct, saccule, and utricle and three semicircular ducts that make up the endolymph-filled membranous labyrinth. The cristae, an organ of corti, and the ampullaris maculae are examples of sensory receptors.
