Answer: second option.

Step-by-step explanation:

You need to descompose the radicand 8 and the radicand 50 into their prime factors:

8=2*2*2=2^2*2\\50=2*5*5=2*5^2

Then you can rewrite the expression:

\sqrt{8}+\sqrt{50}

=\sqrt{2^2*2}+\sqrt{2*5^2}

Since:

\sqrt{a^2}=a

You can simplify the expression:

=2\sqrt{2}+5\sqrt{2}

As the indices and the radicands are the same, you can make the addition:

=7\sqrt{2}

KiRa [710]
Method 1:

\dfrac{a}{20}+\dfrac{14}{15}=\dfrac{9}{15}\ \ \ \ |multiply\ both\ sides\ by\ 60\\\\60\cdot\dfrac{a}{20}+60\cdot\dfrac{14}{15}=60\cdot\dfrac{9}{15}\\\\3a+4\cdot14=4\cdot9\\\\3a+56=36\ \ \ \ |subtract\ 56\ from\ both\ sides\\\\3a=-20\ \ \ \ |divide\ both\ sides\ by\ 3\\\\\boxed{a=-\frac{20}{3}\to a=-6\frac{2}{3}}

Method 2.

\dfrac{a}{20}+\dfrac{14}{15}=\dfrac{9}{15}\ \ \ \ |subtract\ \dfrac{14}{15}\ form\ both\ sides\\\\\dfrac{a}{20}=-\dfrac{5}{15}\\\\\dfrac{a}{20}=-\dfrac{1}{3}\ \ \ \ |multiply\ both\ sides\ by\ 20\\\\\boxed{a=-\dfrac{20}{3}\to a=-6\frac{2}{3}}

What does a 3 in front of a square root mean?
zlopas [31]
The 3 goes with the square root you don’t need to multiply or anything like that. If you need to simply for example 3 square root of 20 which is when 3 is outside the square root sign. The 20 will be separated with 4*5 in the square root and then you will square root the 4 leaving the 5 in and bringing 2 out. Now you can’t just bring it out and forget about the 3 outside you need to multiply that 2 and 3 and you get 6! So you final answer is 6 square root 5. Hope this helps reply if you have a question!
