The lowest energy state an atom can be at is called its ground state. When an electron in an atom has absorbed energy it is said to be in an excited state. An excited atom is unstable and tends to rearrange itself to return to its lowest energy state. When this happens, the electrons lose some or all of the excess energy by emitting light. Light is only emitted at certain frequencies, each corresponding to a particular electronic transition within the allowed states.

Iodine pentafluoride reacts slowly with glass and violently with water. determine its molecular mass.
pickupchik [31]

Answer:

               221.90 g.mol⁻¹

Explanation:

                          The mass of contained by a molecule is known as molecular mass. It is the sum of atomic weights of the elements contained by the molecule. In given case Iodine Pentafluoride has a chemical formula,

                                                          IF₅

The atomic weights of each element are as;

                                        Iodine  =  126.90 g.mol⁻¹

                                        Fluorine  =  19.00 g.mol⁻¹

As there are five atoms of Fluorine so, we will multiply the atomic weight of Fluorine by five and that of Iodine by one as there is only one Iodine atom.

Therefore,

         Molecular Mass of IF₅  =  (1 × 126.90 g.mol⁻¹) + (5 × 19.00 g.mol⁻¹)

         Molecular Mass of IF₅  =  (126.90 g.mol⁻¹) + (95.00 g.mol⁻¹)

         Molecular Mass of IF₅  =  221.90 g.mol⁻¹

Assuming the boiling point increased by 2 °C, what is the approximate molality of NaCl when the video ends? Kbp(water) = 0.512
makkiz [27]

Answer : The molality of NaCl is, 1.95 mol/kg

Explanation :

Formula used for Elevation in boiling point :

\Delta T_b=i\times k_b\times m

where,

\Delta T_b = change in boiling point = 2^oC

k_b = boiling point constant  for water = 0.512^oC/m

m = molality

i = Van't Hoff factor = 2 (for electrolyte)

The dissociation NaCl will be,

NaCl\rightarrow Na^++Cl^{-}

So, Van't Hoff factor = Number of solute particles = Na^++Cl^{-} = 1 + 1 = 2

Now put all the given values in the above formula, we get:

2^oC=2\times (0.512^oC/m)\times m

m=1.95mol/kg

Therefore, the molality of NaCl is, 1.95 mol/kg

Name the compound CH3-CH3
Mkey [24]

Answer:

Ethane

Explanation:

CH3-CH3 is an alkane by the name of ethane. In organic chemistry there is a systematic way of naming compounds according to the prefix (eth) and the suffix (ane.)

The prefixes vary according to the number of carbon atoms:

1 C = meth

2 C = eth

3 C = prop

4 C = but
