Firstly, solve the exponent: y=-0.03*1600+1.6*40

Next, solve the multiplications: y=-48+64

Lastly, solve the addition and your answer will be: y=16

Since the football was 16 ft high, as opposed to the goal post's 10 ft, when it was at the goal post, it had successfully gone over the post. And since 16 ft is 6 ft higher than 10 ft, the football was 6 ft higher than the goal post when it went over.
