We have some number x that we do two things to it in this exact order: divide by 3, add 8.

To isolate x or get it all by itself, we have to undo what is happening to x. We follow the order mentioned above in reverse so that we undo everything properly. Undo the "add 8" by subtracting 8 from both sides. Then you undo the "divide by 3" by multiplying both sides by 3. Check out the attached image for details and the steps on how to solve. The final answer is x = 18

fgiga [73]
Since a side is only 6 inches long and the total perimeter is 36; take 36/6 and you get 6. The only figure with six sides is a hexagon, thus your answer is hexagon.

You and your friend share a paper route. You can deliver 4 papers in one minute and your friend can deliver 3 papers in one minu
nadezda [96]

Answer:

n\times \frac{1}{4}+(75-n)\times \frac{1}{3}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:

4 papers are delivered by first person in one minute.

Rate of delivering one paper

or

Time taken to deliver one paper can be calculated by the formula:

\dfrac{\text{Total Time taken}}{\text{Number of papers delivered}}

Time taken to deliver one paper by first person = \frac{1}{4}

3 papers are delivered by second person in one minute.

Time taken to deliver one paper by second person = \frac{1}{3}

Total number of papers = 75

Number of papers delivered by first person = n

So, number of papers delivered by second person = (75-n)

Time taken to deliver n newspapers = Number of newspapers delivered <em>multiplied by </em>Time taken to deliver one newspaper

Time taken by first person = n\times \frac{1}{4}

Time taken by second person = (75-n)\times \frac{1}{3}

So, Total time taken can be written as:

n\times \frac{1}{4}+(75-n)\times \frac{1}{3}
