x = -b ± √b² - 4ac / 2a

x = -5 ± √5² - 4(-2)(-3) / 2(-2)

= -5 ± √25 - (24) / -2

= -5 ± √1 / -2

= -5/2 ± 1/2

= -5/2 - 1/2 or x = -5/2 + 1/2

= -5-1 / 2 or -5+1/ 2

x = -6/2 or -4/2

x = -3 or -2

Therefore, the solution to the quadratic equation is x = -3 or -2
