Bacteria in the human mouth release enzymes to break up sucrose, and then polymerize glucose to form a bacterial plaque. When th

is glucose is digested, it forms lactic acid, which causes tooth decay. Tooth enamel is made of calcium phosphate. Lactic acid has a Ka 1.38x10-4 and ionizes into lactate and H3O+ ions. Assuming an initial lactic acid concentration of 0.10 mol/L on your tooth, determine the pH (assume a 1:1:1 mole ratio) and the percent ionization. Should people be concerned with plaque buildup? Justify your answer.

Yes, people should be concerned because plaque buildup might cause your breath to smell bad, or cause your teeth to look very yellow, consider brushing your teeth and using mouth wash daily and don’t drink or eat unhealthy foods that will cause your teeth to look bad. plaque buildup might also cause damage to the stomach and maybe affect when you have to use the restroom.

A cyclinder has a volume of 703 cm3 and a height of 18.5 cm. What can be concluded about the cyclinder
Sergio039 [100]

The volume of a cylinder's formula can be used to find the area of the base.

The formula - r2 h, where r is the cylinder's radius and h is its height, determines the volume of a cylinder.

The density of a cylinder is determined by its volume, which represents how much material may be immersed in it or carried inside of it. The formula r2h, where r is the radius of the circular base and h is the height of the cylinder, determines the volume of a cylinder. Any substance that can fill the cylinder consistently with liquid or another material may be used as the material.

The ratio of the base area to the height can be used to calculate the volume of a cylinder

A sample of pure water contains
prohojiy [21]
The answer is c because it is helpful to understand the balance between these two ions. An aqueous solution is a solution in which water is the solvent. Water molecules (H2O) are polar, meaning that they have a negative end (the oxygen) and a positive end (the hydrogens). When there is a reaction in an aqueous solution, the water molecules have the ability to attract and temporarily hold a donated proton (H+). This creates the hydronium ion (H3O+).

A student increases the temperature of a 556 cm3 balloon from 278 K to 308 K. Assuming constant pressure, what should the new vo
Mandarinka [93]
The answer is:  [D]:  " 417 cm³ " .
_____________________________________________________
Explanation:  Use the formula:

V₁ /T₁= V₂ /T₂  ;

in which:  V₁ = initial volume = 556 cm³ ;
                T₁ = initial temperature = 278 K ;
                V₂ = final ("new") temperature = 308 K
                T₂ = final ("new:) volume = ?

Solve for  "V₂" ;

Since:  V₁ /T₁= V₂ /T₂ ;

We can rearrange this "equation/formula" to isolate "V₂" on one side of the equation; and then we can plug in our know values to solve for "V₂" ;
_______________________________________________________
       V₁ /T₁= V₂ /T₂  ;  Multiply EACH side of the equation by "T₂ " :

          →  T₂ (V₁ /T₁) = T₂  (V₂ /T₂) ;
______________________________
to get:

↔ T₂  (V₂ /T₂) = T₂ (V₁ /T₁) ;

     →  V₂ = T₂ (V₁ /T₁) ;
______________________________
Now, plug in our known values, to solve for "V₂" ;
______________________________
    →  V₂ = T₂ (V₁ /T₁) ;
______________________________
    →  V₂ = 308 K ( 556 cm³ /278 K)  ;
             → The units of "K" cancel to "1" ; and we have:
________________________________________________________
    →  V₂ = 308*( 556 cm³ / 278 ) = [(208 * 556) / 278 ] cm³ ;
Note:  We will keep the units of volume as:  "cm³ ";  since all the answer choices given are in units of:  "cm³ " ; {that is, "cubic centimeters"}.

   →  [(208 * 556) / 278 ] cm³ = [ (115,648) / (278) ] cm³ ;

              → For the "(115,648)" ;  round to "3 (three significant figures)" ;
                        → "(115,648)" → rounds to:  "116,000" ;
____________________________________________________
              →      (116,000) / (278) = 417.2661870503597122  ;
                                 → round to 3 significant figures; → "417 cm³ " ;
                                               → which corresponds with "choice [D]".
______________________________________________________
The answer is:  [D]:  "417 cm³ " .
