A boat is moving in a river with a current that has speed vW with respect to the shore. The boat first moves downstream (i.e. in

the direction of the current) at a constant speed, vB , with respect to the water. The boat travels a distance D in a time tOut . The boat then changes direction to move upstream (i.e. against the direction of the current) at a constant speed, vB , with respect to the water, and returns to its original starting point (located a distance D from the turn-around point) in a time tIn .
1) What is tOut in terms of vW, vB, and D, as needed?
2) What is tIn in terms of vW, vB, and D, as needed?
3) Assuming D = 120 m, tIn = 170 s, and vW = 0.3 m/s, what is vB, the speed of the boat with respect to the water?
4) Once again, assuming D = 120 m, tIn = 170 s, and vW = 0.3 m/s, what is tOut, the time it takes the boat to move a distance D downstream?

Answer:

Explanation:

Current  has speed vW with respect to the shore and boat has speed vB with respect to water or current so speed of boat  with respect to shore

vW + vB .

Distance travelled with respect to shore by boat = D

time ( tout ) = distance / speed with respect to shore

tOut = D / ( vW + vB )

When the boat travels upstream , its velocity with respect to shore

= ( vB - vW ) , vB must be higher .

tin = D /  ( vB - vW )

3 ) tin = D /  ( vB - vW )

170 = 120 / (vB - 0.3 )

(vB - 0.3 ) = 12 / 17 = .706

vB = 1.006 m / s

4 )

tOut = D / ( vW + vB )

= 120 / ( .3 + 1.006 )

= 92.26 s

If Sherry took her pulse for 6 seconds and felt 14 beats, What would her heart rate be?
Schach [20]

Answer:

140 beats per minute

Explanation:

There are 60 seconds in a minute and we know that Sherry felt 14 beats in 6 seconds if you multiply 6 by 10 you get 60 seconds which can be 1 minute. Then you multiply 14 by 10 since you 14 by 10 since you multiplied 6 by 10 and you get 140 beats per minute.

Describe a beach that was near stormy seas and powerful waves
Agata [3.3K]

A storm beach is a type of shingle beach that is often hit by heavy storms. Strong waves and winds batter storm beaches into narrow, steep landforms. The shingles on storm beaches are usually small near the water and large at the highest elevation

A ball is thrown straight up from ground level. It passes a 2-m-high window. The bottom of the window is 7.5 m off the ground. T
slamgirl [31]

Answer:

u=14.48m/s

Explanation:

From the question we are told that:

Height of window h=2m

Height of window off the ground h_g=7.5m

Time to fall and drop t=1.3s

Generally the Newton's equation motion  is mathematically given by

 s=ut+\frac{1}{2}at^2

Where

h=ut+\frac{1}{2}at^2

2=u1.3-\frac{1}{2}*9.8*1.3^2

2=u1.3-8.281

u=7.91m/s^2

Generally the Newton's equation motion  is mathematically given by

2as=v^2-u^2

Where

-2gh_g=v^2-u^2

-2*9.8*7.5=(7.91)^2-u^2

-147=62.5681-u^2

u=\sqrt{209.5681}

u=14.48m/s

Therefore the  ball’s initial speed

u=14.48m/s

Which properties define light as a wave?
Naddik [55]

Properties that define the light is a wave are

1. Speed : speed of light is 300,000 Km /s, It is most fundamenta property of light to define light is a wave

2. Reflection: Light particles or photons reflect off the particles or masses are continue to travel at the same speed.

3. colour
