Answer:

3.28 m/s

Explanation:

From the question,

Applying newtons ,

F = mv²/r........................ Equation 1

Where m = mass of the rock, v = speed, r = radius of the circle, F = Centriputal force.

But,

Centriputal force is equal to the weight of the rock

F = mg................. Equation 2

Equate equation 2 into equation 1

mg = mv²/r

Therefore,

v = √gr...................... Equaion 3

Given: r = 2.2/2 = 1.1 m

Constant: g = 9.8 m/s²

Substitute into equation 3

v = √(9.8×1.1)

v = √(10.78)

v = 3.28 m/s

Hence the minimum speed is 3.28 m/s

Suppose that the period of a particular ideal mass-spring system is 5 s . What would be the period of the system if the mass wer
yan [13]

Answer: T2 = 7.07s

Explanation: The period of a loaded spring of spring constant k and mass m is given by

T= 2π √m/k

With 2π constant and k, it can be seen with little algebra that

T² is proportional to mass m

Hence (T1)²/m1 = (T2) ²/m2

Where T1 = 5, T2 =?, let m1 = m hence m2 = 2m.

By substituting, we have that

5²/m = (T2) ²/2m

25 / m = (T2) ²/2m

25 × 2m = (T2) ² × m

25 × 2 = (T2) ²

50 = (T2) ²

T2 = √50

T2 = 7.07s

A seesaw made of a plank of mass 10.0 kg and length 3.00 m is balanced on a fulcrum 1.00 m from one end of the plank. A 20.0-kg
lidiya [134]

Answer:

7.5 kg

Explanation:

We are given that

m_1=10 kg

Length of plank, l=3 m

Distance of fulcrum from one end of the plank=1 m

m_2=20 kg

We have to find the mass must be on the other end if the plank remains balanced.

Let m be the mass must be on the other end if the plank remains balanced.

In balance condition

20\times 1=10\times (1.5-1)+m\times (1.5+0.5)

20=10(0.5)+2m

20=5+2m

2m=20-5=15

\implies m=\frac{15}{2}

m=7.5 kg

Hence, mass 7.5 kg   must be on the other end if the plank remains balanced.
