Judging on the basis of experience, a politician claims that 57% of voters in a certain area have voted for an independent can

didate in past elections. Suppose you surveyed 25 randomly selected people in that area, and 18 of them reported having voted for an independent candidate. The null hypothesis is that the overall proportion of voters in the area that have voted for an independent candidate is 57%. What value of the test statistic should you report?

Answer: z= 1.51

Step-by-step explanation:

Test statistic for proportion is given by :-

z=\dfrac{p-P}{\sqrt{\dfrac{PQ}{n}}}

Where n is sample size ,p is the sample proportion , P Is the population proportion and Q =1 - P.

Given : P=57% = 0.57

Q= 1- P = 1-0.57=0.43

n = 25

p=\dfrac{18}{25}=0.72

Test statistic for proportion will be :-

z=\dfrac{0.72-0.57}{\sqrt{\dfrac{0.57\times0.43}{25}}}\approx1.51

We should report the value of test statistic z= 1.51

Answer:

\large\boxed{\dfrac{n^2}{4}}

Step-by-step explanation:

\dfrac{n^2+2n}{4}\div\dfrac{n+2}{n}=\dfrac{n(n+2)}{4}\cdot\dfrac{n}{n+2}\\\\\text{cancel}\ (n+2)\\\\=\dfrac{n}{4}\cdot\dfrac{n}{1}=\dfrac{n^2}{4}

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

I'll do them you arrange.

x +  (x - 1) > 5

If you start with 3 you will see that the answer is that the left equals the right. So 4 is the smallest number x can have

3 + (3 - 1)>5

6 - 1 = 5 not something greater than 5

4 + (4 - 1) > 5

8 - 1 > 5

7 > 5 which is true.

Answer 4

5x - 3x > 9

2x > 9          x must equal 5

2*5 > 9

10 > 9

Answer 5

6x - 14 > 3       add 14 to both sides.

6x - 14+14>3+14

6x > 17            The answer to equality is just about 3. So three is the answer

6*3 > 17

18 > 17

Answer 3

2x - 1 > 0           Add 1 to both sides.

2x > 1                 1 is the answer

2*1 > 1

2 > 1

Answer 1

So all you need do is place them in order. The last one goes first and then the second last one.

Find all values of k for which the function y=sin(kt) satisfies the differential equation y′′+16y=0. Separate your answers by co
VashaNatasha [74]

Answer: k = 4, k = -4 and k = 0.

Step-by-step explanation:

If we have y = sin(kt)

then:

y' = k*cos(kt)

y'' = -k^2*son(x).

then, if we have the relation:

y'' - y = 0

we can replace it by the things we derivated previously and get:

-k^2*sin(kt) + 16*sin(kt) = 0

we can divide by sin in both sides (for t ≠0 and k ≠0 because we can not divide by zero)

-k^2 + 16 = 0

the solutions are k = 4 and k = -4.

Now, we have another solution, but it is a trivial one that actually does not give any information, but for the diff equation:

-k^2*sin(kt) + 16*sin(kt) = 0

if we take k = 0, we have:

-0 + 0 = 0.

So the solutions are k = 4, k = -4 and k = 0.

Explain how you would graph the line containing a slope of-1/5 that goes through the point (1,-4)
madam [21]

Answer:

y= -1/5x + 1/5

Step-by-step explanation:

y- y1 = m(x - x1)

Slope m=-1/5

(1, -4)

1 = y1

-4 = x1

y- 1 = -1/5(x-(-4))

y-1 = -1/5(x+4)

y-1= -1/5(x)+ -1/5(4)

y-1 = -1/5x + -4/5

add one to both sides

y= -1/5x + -4/5 + 1

y = -1/5x + 1/5
