You have been called to testify as an expert witness in a trial involving a head-on collision. Car A weighs 690.0 kg and was tra

veling eastward. Car B weighs 520.0 kg and was traveling westward at 74.0 km/h. The cars locked bumpers and slid eastward with their wheels locked for 6.00 m before stopping. You have measured the coefficient of kinetic friction between the tires and the pavement to be 0.750. 1) How fast (in kilometer per hour) was car A traveling just before the collision

Answer:

The speed of car A before collision is 3.5 km/h.

Explanation:

Mass of car A = 690 kg eastwards

Mass of car B = 520 kg at 74 km/h west wards

Distance, s = 6 m

coefficient of friction = 0.75

Let the speed after collision is v.

Use third equation of motion

v^2 = u^2 + 2 as \\\\0 =v^2- 2 \times 0.75\times9.8\times 6\\\\v = 9.4 m/s = 33.84 km/h

Let the initial speed of car A is v'.

Use conservation of momentum

690 x v' - 520 x 74 = (690 + 520) x 33.8

690 v' + 38480 = 40898

v' = 3.5 km/h

Monica [59]

Assuming a perpetual inventory system and using the weighted average method, the weighted average unit is determined as $11.44 after the October 22 purchase.

<h3>What is Weighted Average Cost (WAC)?</h3>

The Weighted Average Cost (WAC) method of inventory valuation in accounting uses a weighted average to establish the COGS and inventory levels.

The price of the products up for grabs is divided by the quantity of them in the weighted average cost technique.

The WAC technique is appropriate under both GAAP and IFRS accounting. Weighted Average Cost (WAC) Method Formula

<h3>Weighted Average Cost</h3>

Weighted Average Unit Costs = [360 units×$12 + (320-180) ×$10] / [360+(320-180)]units}

Weighted Average Unit Costs = $5720 / 500 units

Weighted Average Unit Costs = $11.44

Costs of goods that are offered for sale are calculated using beginning inventory value plus acquisitions.

Units available for sale are the number of units that can be sold by a company or the total number of units that are in its inventory.

A mass on a spring oscillates with a period T. Part A If both the mass and the force constant of the spring are doubled, the new
garik1379 [7]

Answer:

The new time period will be T.

Explanation:

The time period in terms of spring constant and mass is given by :

T=2\pi\sqrt{\dfrac{m}{k}}

If mass and force constant is doubled, m' = 2m and k' = 2k

New time period is given by :

T'=2\pi\sqrt{\dfrac{m'}{k'}}

T'=2\pi\sqrt{\dfrac{2m}{2k}}

T'=2\pi\sqrt{\dfrac{m}{k}}

T'=T

So, the new period will remains the same. Hence, the correct option is (C).
