-8x/5+1/6=-5x/3 I don't get how to find the answer?
NeX [460]
In order to find this answer we have to manipulate the equation algebraically so that we end up with a statement that x = something. We can manipulate the problem however we need to as long as we do the same thing to both sides of the equation (this keeps the equation true).

-8x/5 + 1/6 = -5x/3

first lets get the x's on one side of the equals sign by adding 8x/5 to each side.

1/6 = -5x/3 + 8x/5

Ok, now let's add the x's together (we need common denominators)

1/6 = -25x/15 + 24x/15
1/6 = -x/15

Now lets get x by itself by multiplying each side by 15

1/6 * 15 = -x
15/6 = -x
3/2 = -x

Multiply each side by -1 to make the x positive.

-3/2 = x

An HP laser printer is advertised to print text documents at a speed of 18 ppm (pages per minute). The manufacturer tells you th
anastassius [24]

Answer:

0.288

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve this question, we need to understand the normal probability distribution and the central limit theorem.

Normal probability distribution

Problems of normally distributed samples are solved using the z-score formula.

In a set with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the zscore of a measure X is given by:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

The Z-score measures how many standard deviations the measure is from the mean. After finding the Z-score, we look at the z-score table and find the p-value associated with this z-score. This p-value is the probability that the value of the measure is smaller than X, that is, the percentile of X. Subtracting 1 by the pvalue, we get the probability that the value of the measure is greater than X.

Central Limit Theorem

The Central Limit Theorem estabilishes that, for a normally distributed random variable X, with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the sampling distribution of the sample means with size n can be approximated to a normal distribution with mean \mu and standard deviation s = \frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}.

For a skewed variable, the Central Limit Theorem can also be applied, as long as n is at least 30.

In this question, we have that:

\mu = 17.48, \sigma = 3.25, n = 10, s = \frac{3.25}{\sqrt{10}} = 1.027740

Find the probability that the mean printing speed of the sample is greater than 18.06 ppm.

This is 1 subtracted by the pvalue of Z when X = 18.06. So

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

By the Central Limit Theorem

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{s}

Z = \frac{18.06 - 17.48}{1.027740}

Z = 0.56

Z = 0.56 has a pvalue of 0.712

1 - 0.712 = 0.288

The answer is 0.288

A study was conducted to determine whether a new highway should be built next to the river in a town. Half of the residents in t
Tamiku [17]

Answer:

The sampling of this study is bias

Step-by-step explanation:

Sampling bias is a bias that is gotten during sampling where some members of the population have a lower representation or probability than others in the sample pool. In this case, only the residents living near a river was sampled, and because they are subjected to relatively the same conditions (living near a river), the result of the study will not be a true representation of every member of the town because the people living far away from the river will most likely have different opinions due to their different environmental exposure than the people living close to the river. The correct thing to have been done for the result to be reliable and accurate will be to sample at random, people in the two both close to and far away from the river, or to sample equal number of people each living close to and far away from the river.

Another example of sampling bias is a study to determine the effect of alcohol on pregnancy in women in America, and only pregnant white women who drink are sampled, leaving out Black or Hispanic  women, what ever result gotten in the study may hold true for white women in America, but it may not hold true for every woman in America
