You have to use the Pithagorean Theorem because the ladder, the barn and the earth forms triangle. Than the wall of the barn and the earth makes a 90° angle. So the ladder is the hypotenuses and the earth and the barn wall are the catetes so you only have to do 12^2= 3^2 + x^2. x is how high on the barn the ladder reach. That's all. I hope I helped.

The barn, the ground, and the ladder form a right triangle. If we represent the height on the barn by y, then the Pythagorean theorem tells us

... hypotenuse² = (side1)² + (side2)²

... (12 ft)² = (3 ft)² + y² . . . . . . . . . . . . fill in given information

... 144 ft² - 9 ft² = y² = 135 ft² . . . . . .subtract (3 ft)²

... y = 3√15 ft ≈ 11.6 ft . . . . . . . . . . . take the square root

The ladder reaches 11.6 feet high on the barn.

solve the inequality $\frac{29}{289z<\frac{16}{161}z$. try to solve the problem without doing a lot of messy computations!
Lesechka [4]

The solution to the given inequality as represented in the task content are; z < - 1.00485413 OR z > 1.00485413.

<h3>What is the solution to the given inequality?</h3>

It follows from the task content that the solution of the given inequality; ( 29 / 289z ) < ( 16 / 161 ) z is to be determined.

Since the given inequality is;

( 29 / 289z ) < ( 16 / 161 ) z

By cross multiplication; we have;

161 × 29 < ( 16z × 289z )

( 161 × 29 ) / ( 16 × 289 ) < z²

1.00973183 < z²

Therefore;

1.00485413 < z. OR. -1.00485413 > z.

Ultimately, z < - 1.00485413 OR z > 1.00485413.

Part C: Find the distance from B to E and from P to E. Show your work. (4 points)
garri49 [273]

Answer:

BE = 294.23 ft

PE = 259.62 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

Quadrilateral CPRG is a parallelogram.

CP || GR

In triangles BCG and BPE

\angle BCG \cong \angle BPE  (Alternate \: \angle 's) \\\angle GBC \cong \angle EBP  (Vertical \: \angle 's) \\\therefore \triangle BCG \sim \triangle BPE  (AA \: postulate) \\\\\therefore \frac{BE}{BG}  =\frac{PE}{GC} =\frac{BP}{BC}...(csst)\\\\\therefore \frac{BE}{425}  =\frac{PE}{375} =\frac{225}{325}\\\\\therefore \frac{BE}{425}  =\frac{PE}{375} =\frac{9}{13}\\\\\therefore \frac{BE}{425} =\frac{9}{13}\\\\BE =\frac{9\times 425}{13}\\\\BE =\frac{3,825}{13}\\\\BE = 294.23\: ft \\\\\&\\\frac{PE}{375} =\frac{9}{13}\\\\PE =\frac{9\times 325}{13}\\\\PE =\frac{3,375}{13}\\\\PE = 259.615385 \\\\PE = 259.62 \: ft\\\\

Use foil method (8a - 8)(4a + 1)
BlackZzzverrR [31]
The answer is:  " 32a² − 24a − 8 " .
__________________________________________________
Given:
__________________________________________________
(8a − 8)(4a + 1) ;  Let us expand this expression using the:  "FOIL" method.
___________________________________________________
"FOIL" stands for "<u>F</u>irst terms, <u>O</u>uter terms, <u> I</u>nner Terms, <u>L</u>ast Terms" ;
           in that order.
___________________________________________________
Basically:
_______________________________________________________
(a + b)(c + d) = ac + ad + bc + bd ;

in which the:

<u>F</u>irst term is:    "ac" ;
<u>O</u>uter term is:  "ad" ;
<u>I </u>nner term is:   "bc" ;
<u>L</u>ast term is:    "bd " .
__________________________________
So; we have (given):

(8a − 8)(4a + 1) ;
__________________________________________________
Let's take the "<u>F</u>irst, <u>O</u>uter, <u> </u><u>I</u>nner, and <u>L</u>ast terms" ; as follows:
__________________________________________________
<u>F</u>:  (8a)*(4a) = 32a² ;
__________________________________________________
<u>O</u>:  (8a)*(1) = 8a ;
__________________________________________________
<u>I </u>:   (-8)*(4a) = -32a ;
__________________________________________________
<u>L</u>:  (-8)*(1) = -8
__________________________________________________
Now, let us write out these terms:
__________________________________________________
  32a² + 8a − 32a - 8 ;
__________________________________________________
Now, combine the "like terms" in this expression; to simplify:

       + 8a − 32a = -24a ;
__________________________________________________
and rewrite the simplified expression ; which is:
__________________________________________________
        32a² − 24a − 8 .
______________________________________________________
