A stereotype is an oversimplified image or idea of a type of person. They are widely held but almost always made-up. Ray believes in a stereotype of Latinos being unsupportive of women having successful careers. He is making an assumption of his daughter's fiance on just the basis of him being Latino without knowing if it applies to him or not.
