At track practice, Coach Wilson told the team to split into groups of four for a special relay. The first runner had to run 1 la

p around the track (440 yards). The second runner had to run 2 laps around the track. The third runner had to to run 3 laps around the track. The final runner had to run 4 laps around the track (1 mile). How many yards did each relay team team have to run altogether? *

You can multiply the number of laps each person ran by the yards in each lap and then add them together:

440 + 2(440) + 3(440) + 4(440)
= 440 + 880 + 1,320 + 1,760
= 4,440 yards

Or you can add the laps first, then multiply by the yards in each lap
(1 + 2 + 3 + 4)(440)
= 10 x 440
= 4,400 yards

A) what is average rate of change of f(x) over the interval from x=5 to x=9? (table shows values of f(x). graph shows function o
SVETLANKA909090 [29]

Answer:

See below for answers and explanations

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Part A</u>

The average rate of change of a function over the interval [a,b] is equal to \frac{f(b)-f(a)}{b-a}, hence:

\frac{f(b)-f(a)}{b-a}\\\\\frac{f(9)-f(5)}{9-5}\\\\\frac{14-(-4)}{9-5}\\ \\\frac{14+4}{4}\\ \\\frac{18}{4}\\ \\\frac{9}{2}

Therefore, the average rate of change of f(x) over the interval [5,9] is \frac{9}{2}.

<u>Part B</u>

Do the same thing as in Part A:

\frac{f(b)-f(a)}{b-a}\\ \\\frac{f(1)-f(0.25)}{1-0.25}\\ \\\frac{2-5}{0.75}\\ \\\frac{-3}{0.75}\\ \\-4

Therefore, the average rate of change of g(x) over the interval [0.25,1] is -4.

<u>Part C</u>

To interpret our answer from Part B in terms of the real world it represents, we say that between 0.25 seconds and 1 second, the ball falls at a rate of 4 feet per second (since our average rate of change is negative).

Select the term that best describes the statement.. . All angles are right angles or a triangle has four sides.. 1) conjunction.
nydimaria [60]

The <u>correct answer</u> is:

2) disjunction.

Explanation:

A conjunction is when two statements are connected by "and." These are not, so this is not a conjunction.

A disjunction is when two statements are connected by "or." These are; this is a disjunction.

A negation is the opposite of a statement.

A conditional is an if-then statement.
