Answer:

The earliest documented mention of the spherical Earth concept dates from around the 5th century BC, when it was mentioned by ancient Greek philosophers.[1][2] In the 3rd century BC, Hellenistic astronomy established the roughly spherical shape of the Earth as a physical fact and calculated the Earth's circumference. This knowledge was gradually adopted throughout the Old World during Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages.[3][4][5][6] A practical demonstration of Earth's sphericity was achieved by Ferdinand Magellan and Juan Sebastián Elcano's circumnavigation (1519–1522).[7]

If a set of displacement vectors laid head to tail make a closed polygon, what is the resultant vector?
Papessa [141]

The resultant vector is zero.

Explanation:

When you add displacement vectors using the head to tail method, you follow this procedure:

- Draw the first vector

- Draw the second vector, with its tail starting from the head of the first vector

- Draw the third vector, with its tail starting from the head of the second vector

.. and so on.

The resultant of the all vectors will be the vector connecting the tail of the 1st vector to the head of the last vector.

In this problem, the vectors make a closed polygon: this means that the head of the last vector coincides with the tail of the first vector.

Therefore, this means that the length of the resultant vector is zero.

A car travels 98 miles in 1 hour and 45 minutes. what is the average speed?
Greeley [361]
Firstly let us get the time down to minutes from hours. Then the calculation will become easy.
1 hour and 45 minutes = (60 + 45) minutes
                                     = 105 minutes
So
The distance traveled by the car in 105 minutes = 98 miles
Then
The distance traveled by the car in 60 minutes = (98/105) * 60 miles
                                                                           = 5880/105 miles
                                                                           = 56 miles
So the average speed of the car as can be seen from the above deduction is 56 miles per hour.

For increasing the reaction rate: add a catalyst, decrease surface area, and increase temperature. All the other ones should be for decreasing. Let me know if it was right :)
