A direct variation function contains the points (-9,-3) and (-12,-4). Which equation represents the function? y= -3x, y= -x/3, y
disa [49]
To find the equation, find the slope from the two points. The slope formula is (y1-y2)/(x1-x2). Plugging in the two points, you should get 3 as your slope.

As a line, the answer would be y=3x. Therefore, y=3x represents the function described.

I need help in Pre-Algebra! This assignment is due today & I have no idea how to do it, PLEASE HELP!
Komok [63]
I won't do this for you, but I can give you a hint. Replace your f variable with -2, -1, 0, 1, and 2. Then take said f variable and put it in your y boxes. Then just get a calculator and do the work on there. It should be pretty easy.

The area of the cross section of a sphere at the largest point is 100π square miles. what is the total surface area of this sphe
Firlakuza [10]

The cross-section of a sphere  is a circle . The  area of a circle can be calculated by the formula A= \pi\r^{2} Where r is the radius of the circle.

Given :\pir^{2}   = 100\pi

Solving for r we have:

r^{2} = \frac{100\pi }{\pi}=   100

Or r= 10.

The area of a sphere is calculated by the formula :

SA = 4\pi  R^{2}

Substituting r value we have:

SA= 4\pi\ 10 ^{2}    = 400\pi

The total surface area of this sphere is 400π .
