A flashlight can be made that is powered by the induced current from a magnet moving through a coil of wire. The coil and magnet

are inside a plastic tube that can be shaken causing the magnet to move back and forth through the coil. Assume the magnet has a maximum field strength of 0.05 T. Assume that the radius of the coil is 1.5 cm and the magnet is shaken with a frequency of about two shakes per second. Specify the the number of turns necessary to light a standard 1-watt, 3-V flashlight bulb.

Answer:

n = 4.25 x 10⁴ .

Explanation:

EMF required to be produced = 3 V .

Let n be the required no of turns .

rate of change of flux = n x B x A x f where n is no of turns of coil , B is magnetic field , A is area of coil and f is frequency of change .

B = .05 T , A = π x (.015)² = 7.065 x 10⁻⁴ m² , f = 2

emf induced = rate of change of flux

= n x  .05 T x 7.065 x 10⁻⁴ m² x 2

= .7065 x 10⁴ x n

Given

.7065 x 10⁻⁴ x n  = 3

n = 4.25 x 10⁴ .

A very loud train whistle has an acoustic power output of 100 W. If the sound energy spreads out spherically, what is the intens
valentina_108 [34]

Answer

given,

Power output of loud train = 100 W

Distance of intensity level from train= 100 m

I₀ = 10⁻¹² W/m²

Intensity of sound = ?

we know,

I = \dfrac{P}{Area}

I = \dfrac{P}{4\pi r^2}

I = \dfrac{100}{4\pi 100^2}

I =7.957\times 10^{-4}\ W/m^2

Intensity level

  = 10 log(\dfrac{I}{I_0})

  = 10 log(\dfrac{7.975\times 10^{-4}}{10^{-12}})

  = 10 \times 8.900

  = 89 dB

Charge flows from low potential to high potential.<br> O True<br> or<br> O False
inn [45]

Answer:

False

Explanation:

Think of the electric potential in terms of potential energy. If you imagine a place with high elevation (A) and another one at sea level (B), a ball will roll from high potential to low potential (A-->B).

Everything in our universe wants to reach a lower state of energy if no external force is acted upon it. Every object tends to slow down (friction), a radioactive element dissipates energy (an unstable element releases energy to get to a stable state), water in the clouds comes down to the ground (rain experiencing difference in potential energy).

Electric potential is exactly the same, you just can't see it! It flows from higher voltage (which is a synonym for electric potential) to lower voltage.
