Cats to dogs means that the first number is cats and the second number is dogs. Thus, you have the ratios 2 cats to 5 dogs and 5 cats to 2 dogs which are different.

If they are both ratios of cats to dogs, with the ratio 2 to 5 it would mean there are 2.5x more dogs then there are cats, but with the ratio 5 to 2 it would mean there are 2.5x more cats than there are dogs, in which they are both different.

Mr. Sanchez is grading papers. Yesterday he graded 3 papers in 10 minutes. Today, he graded 2 papers in 8 minutes. What was the
siniylev [52]

Answer:

The difference is 3 papers per hour

Step-by-step explanation:

First, you make turn the 10 minutes to 60 minutes by multiplied by 6 and the same to three and you would get 18 paper per hour. Next, you simplify the 8 minute rate to 1 paper in 4 minutes then multiply the 4 by 15 = 60 minutes then the same to the 1 equal to 15 paper per hour. Finally, you subtract 18 - 15 = 3 paper.

Suppose customers in a certain queue are served one at a time sequentially, that the time for each individual customer is Expone
alexandr402 [8]

Answer:

The shape and rate parameters are \frac{1}{12} and 3.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let <em>X</em> = service time for each individual.

The average service time is, <em>β</em> = 12 minutes.

The random variable follows an Exponential distribution with parameter, \lambda=\frac{1}{\beta}=\frac{1}{12}.

The service time for the next 3 customers is,

<em>Z</em> = <em>X</em>₁ + <em>X</em>₂ + <em>X</em>₃

All the <em>X</em>_{i}'s are independent Exponential random variable.

The sum of independent Exponential random variables is known as a Gamma or Erlang random variable.

The random variable <em>Z</em> follows a Gamma distribution with parameters (<em>α</em>, <em>n</em>).

The parameters are:

\alpha =\lambda=\frac{1}{12}\\n=3

Thus, the shape and rate parameters are \frac{1}{12} and 3.

Broderick deposits $6,000 in an account that earns 5.5% simple interest paid annually. How long will it be before the total amou
emmainna [20.7K]
<span>i=prt
where i is interest (9000-6000 = $3000 interest)
p is principle ($6000)
r is rate (5.5%) [taking that its 5.5%pa]
t is time

substitute these into the equation
3000 = $6000 x 5.5% x t
t = 3000 divided by (6000x5.5%)
= 3000 divided by 330
t=100/11 years
 it would take 100/11 years which is approx 9.1 years</span>
