Fine the slope of the line perpendicular to the line graphed below

Mathematics
1 answer:
goldenfox [79]3 years ago
6 0

Answer:

-\frac{1}{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

The slope of this line is 2 because the rise from one point is 2, and the run is 1. The change in y-value is divided by the change in the x-value which is 2/1, hence, the slope of the line being 2.

The slope of the line perpendicular to the one shown below will be -\frac{1}{2} because the slope that will result in a perpendicular line is the negative reciprocal of the original slope.

Solve for x and y <br> 8x-2y=24
TiliK225 [7]

Answer: For y it's y=4x−12 and for x it's x=12+y/4

Step-by-step explanation:

SOLVING FOR X

8x-2y=24

2(4x−y)=24

4x−y=24/2

4x−y=12

4x=12+y

x=12+y/4

SOLVING FOR Y

8x-2y=24

2(4x−y)=24

4x−y=24/2

4x−y=12

−y=12−4x

y=−12+4x

y=4x−12

Hope this helps, have a BLESSED AND WONDERFUL DAY! As well as a great Black History Month and Valentine's day! :-)

The data list shows the scores of ten students in Mr. Smith's math class. 61, 67, 81, 83, 87, 88, 89, 90, 98, 100 What is the st
anzhelika [568]

Sample standard deviation

Mean of data = 84.4

Calculate deviations from the mean = 23.4, 17.8, 3.4, 1.4, -2.6, -3.6, -4.6, -5.6, -13.6 and -15.6

Squaring these deviations; we get 547.56, 316.84, 11.56, 1.96, 6.76, 12.96, 21.15, 31.36, 184.96, 243.36

Adding these we get 1378.47

As its a sample Std Dev we divide by 10 - 1 = 9. For the popklation Std Dev we divide by the number of scores (10).

Std Deviation for sample = sqrt ( 1378.47 / 9) = 12.4 to nearest tenth (answer)

Population Std Dev = sqrt (1378.47 / 10) = 11.7 answer

Theres a lot of arithmetic there so hope i haven't slipped up anywhere!

It’s asking for the area<br> Please help me! Thank you!
Sliva [168]
<h3>Answer:   x^2+9x+8</h3>

==============================================================

Explanation:

With many math problems, a good strategy is to break things down into smaller pieces. In this case, we need to find the area of each individual smaller rectangle

A = blue rectangle area = length*width = x*x = x^2

B = purple rectangle area = length*width = x*1 = x

C = green rectangle area = length*width = 8*x = 8x

D = orange rectangle area = length*width = 1*8 = 8

Add up A through D to get the overall area of the entire or largest rectangle possible

total area = A+B+C+D = x^2+x+8x+8 = x^2+9x+8

notice how x+8x turns into 9x. You can think of it as 1x+8x = (1+8)x = 9x

This is because x and 8x are like terms which can be combined. Everything else is left as is.

Because we don't know what number goes in place for x, we cannot simplify or evaluate x^2+9x+8 any further.

In a triangle, the base is increasing at a constant rate of 2.8 cm per second, while the height is decreasing at a constant rate
Ad libitum [116K]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of a triangle = 1/2bh

b is the base

h is the height

dA/dt = dA/db * db/dt + dA/dh * dh/dt

h = 10cm

b = 6cm

dA/db = h/2 = 10/2

dA/db = 5cm

dA/dh = b/2

dA/dh = 6/2 = 3cm

db/dt = 2.8cm/s

dh/dt = 0.7cm/s

Substitutte into the formula;

dA/dt = 5(2.8) + 3(0.7)

dA/dt = 14 + 2.1

dA/dt = 16.1cm²/s

Hence the rate of change of the area of the triangle is 16.1cm²/s
