Answer:

8. cos(58) = 20/x

x · cos(58) = 20

x = 20/cos(58)

= 37.742

≈ 37.7

9. tan(69) = 324/x

x · tan(69) = 324

x = 324/tan(69)

= 124.372

≈ 124.4

Schach [20]

Answer:

1/2 of the figure is shared

Step-by-step explanation:

From the attachment, 4 out of the 8 squares are shaded

The center square which makes it the 9th is subdivided into 9 squares again.

The pattern of division continues indefinitely.

In every subdivision, 4 squares are shaded leaving the other 4 squares white while the 9th(center square) forms another subdivision.

Therefore, it can be concluded that 1/2 of the figure is shaded.

Translate the following words into an algebraic expression.
olganol [36]

Answer:

You've learned how to work with variables and how to evaluate algebra expressions, now we are going to translate words into algebraic expressions.

This skill will come in handy when working with word problems or real life situations. Pay close attention to the "key words" that represent mathematical operations.

You are probably very used to translating words into numerical expressions. Think about this...

We are used to seeing the words, plus, sum, difference, minus, product ...

The good news is that these very same words that we use to write numerical expressions are going to be used to write algebra expressions.

The difference between a numerical expression and an algebra expression is that we will be using variables when writing an algebraic expression. Instead of "8 plus 9" (with two given numbers), you would see, "a number plus 9".

We don't know exactly "what number", so we would use a variable to indicate that it can be any number.

Key words for each operation are indicated in bold. This will help you to easily translate the expression.

As, you can see from the red, bold words, the key words for addition are: sum, more than, plus, increase, add, older than.

Please also remember that addition is commutative; therefore, you can reverse the digits and you will end up with the same answer.

Now, let's take a look at the key words for subtraction.

sammy [17]

Answer:

mean=10.625=10.6

median=12

Step-by-step explanation:

Mean

The word mean, which is a homonym for multiple other words in the English language, is similarly ambiguous even in the area of mathematics. Depending on the context, whether mathematical or statistical, what is meant by the "mean" changes. In its simplest mathematical definition regarding data sets, the mean used is the arithmetic mean, also referred to as mathematical expectation, or average. In this form, the mean refers to an intermediate value between a discrete set of numbers, namely, the sum of all values in the data set, divided by the total number of values. The equation for calculating an arithmetic mean is virtually identical to that for calculating the statistical concepts of population and sample mean, with slight variations in the variables used

Median

The statistical concept of the median is a value that divides a data sample, population, or probability distribution into two halves. Finding the median essentially involves finding the value in a data sample that has a physical location between the rest of the numbers. Note that when calculating the median of a finite list of numbers, the order of the data samples is important. Conventionally, the values are listed in ascending order, but there is no real reason that listing the values in descending order would provide different results. In the case where the total number of values in a data sample is odd, the median is simply the number in the middle of the list of all values. When the data sample contains an even number of values, the median is the mean of the two middle values. While this can be confusing, simply remember that even though the median sometimes involves the computation of a mean, when this case arises, it will involve only the two middle values, while a mean involves all the values in the data sample. In the odd cases where there are only two data samples or there is an even number of samples where all the values are the same, the mean and median will be the same
