Given that,

The height of a trapezoid is (2x + 9).

The bases can be expressed as (3x - 7) and (x + 5).

To find,

An expression represent the area of the trapezoid.

Solution,

The formula for the area of trapezoid is given by :

A=\dfrac{1}{2}(\text{sum of bases})\times \text{height}

Put all the values,

A=\dfrac{1}{2}(3x-7+x+5)\times (2x+9)\\\\=\dfrac{1}{2}(4x-2)\times (2x+9)\\\\=(2x-1)(2x+9)\\\\A=2x(2x)+9(2x)+(-1)(2x)+(-1)(9)\\\\=4x^2+18x-2x-9\\\\=4x^2+16x-9

So, the area of the trapezoid will be (4x^2+16x-9)\ \text{units}^2

You know from SOH CAH TOA that
.. tan(θ) = Opposite/Adjacent

Then the relations for any of these variables will be
.. Opposite = Adjacent * tan(θ)
.. Adjacent = Opposite / tan(θ)
.. θ = arctan(Opposite/Adjacent)

7. x is opposite.
.. x = (30 cm)*tan(26°) ≈ 14.63 cm

8, 9, 10, 14. x is opposite

11. x = arctan(30/60) ≈ 26.57°

12, 13, 15. x is the angle

If f(x) is a third degree polynomial function and g(x) = f(–2x), which of the following is NOT true?
valina [46]

Answer:

f(x) and g(x) have the same x-intercepts (is <em>not true</em>)

Step-by-step explanation:

g(x) is a reflection across the y-axis and a horizontal compression of f(x). In general those transformations will move the x-intercepts. (The y-intercept and the number of x-intercepts will remain unchanged.)

_____

<em>Comment on the question/answer</em>

f(x) = x^3 is a 3rd degree polynomial. When transformed to g(x) = -8x^2, its only x-intercept (x=0) remains the same. The answer above will not apply in any instance where the only x-intercept is on the line of reflection. (The question is flawed in that it does not make any exception for such functions.)

Lisa's test grades are 79, 89 and 90
Vaselesa [24]

Answer:

<u>94</u>

Step-by-step explanation:

Equating the mean to the scores :

  • 88 = 79 + 89 + 90 + x / 4
  • 352 = 258 + x
  • x = <u>94</u>
