Answer:

43

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x=lucy and y=chuck

we know that in total they found 92 arrowheads which means that

x+y=92

we also know that lucy found 6 more than chuck which means taht

x-6=y

Let's solve this through substitution

Looking at the second equation we know exactly what y is equal to in terms of x so we can plug this in (x-6) whenever we see a y in the first equation

so we have

x+(x-6)=92

solve for x and get

2x=98

x=49

Now that we know what x is equal to we can solve for y

49-6=y

y=43

This means that lucy found 49 and chuck found 43

15. Write the slope-intercept form of the line described in the following:Parallel to 4x + 5y=20and passing through (12,4)
Amiraneli [1.4K]

Problem

Write the slope-intercept form of the line described in the following:

Parallel to 4x + 5y=20

and passing through (12,4)

Solution>

For this case we need to have the same slope, and if we write the equation given we see:

5y = 20 -4x

y = 4 -4/5 x

then the slope m = -4/5

and we also know a point given x= 12, y= 4 and we can do the following:

4 = -4/5 (12) +b

4 = -48/5 + b

And if we solve for the intercept we got:

b= 4 +48/5= -28/5

And our equation would be given by:

y = -4/5 x -28/5

Use this equation to find dy/dx. 3y cos x = x2 + y2
Art [367]
Given: 3y cos x = x² + y²

Define y' =  \frac{dy}{dx}

Then by implicit differentiation, obtain
3y' cos(x) - 3y sin(x) = 2x + 2y y'
y' [3 cos(x) - 2y] = 2x + 3y sinx)

Answer:
\frac{dy}{dx} =  \frac{2x+3y \, sin(x)}{3cos(x)-2y}
