Answer:

If you shine sodium light thru a cold gas, the lines of the sodium spectrum will be suppressed if you look for these lines coming from the gas because of excitation of the gas molecules.

If the light from a sodium vapor lamp is examined (perhaps by a spectroscope) the lines from the sodium spectrum will appear quite bright because of the excitation of the gas within the sodium lamp.

What is the minimum height of a planar mirror placed in a vertical plane 2m distant that will permit a person 2m tall to see the
Taya2010 [7]

Answer:

Height of mirror will be 1 m for complete image of person

Explanation:

We have given distance of person from plane mirror d = 2 m

And height of person = 2 m

We have to find the height of plane mirror which given full image of person

Height of mirror will be equal to half of height of person

So height of mirror =\frac{height\ of\ person}{2}=\frac{2}{2}=1m

So height of mirror will be 1 m for complete image of person

A piece of wood 400N in weight and 50cm X 30cm X 20cm in size lies on 50cm X 20cm face. Calculate the pressure exerted by it.
Serga [27]

Answer:

P = 4000 [Pa]

Explanation:

Pressure is defined as the relationship between Force and the area where the body rests.

The support area is equal to:

A=50*20=1000[cm^{2} ]

But we must convert from square centimeters to square meters.

1000[cm^{2}]*\frac{1^{2}m^{2}  }{100^{2}m^{2}  }=0.1[m^{2} ]

And the pressure is:

P=\frac{F}{A} \\P=400/0.1\\P=4000[N/m^{2} ]or 4000[Pa]

Digital thermometers often make use of thermistors, a type of resistor with resistance that varies with temperature more than st
Nezavi [6.7K]

Answer:

The temperature coefficient of resistivity for a linear thermistor is 1.38\times10^{-3}^{\circ}C^{-1}

Explanation:

Given that,

Initial temperature = 0.00°C

Resistance = 75.0 Ω

Final temperature = 525°C

Resistance = 275 Ω

We need to calculate the temperature coefficient of resistivity for a linear thermistor

Using formula for a linear thermistor

R=R_{0}(1+\alpha\Delta T)

R=R_{0}+R_{0}\alpha\Delta T

\alpha=\dfrac{R-R_{0}}{R_{0}\Delta T}

Put the value into the formula

\alpha=\dfrac{275-75}{275\times(525-0)}

\alpha=1.38\times10^{-3}^{\circ}C^{-1}

Hence, The temperature coefficient of resistivity for a linear thermistor is 1.38\times10^{-3}^{\circ}C^{-1}
