Honestly, I’m not learning the topic you’re learning, and I’m just in 10th grade and am taking anatomy and physiology this year

But personally speaking, I would treat the 8 year old with the possible tibia first, mostly because it’s a broken bone and could be causing extreme pain (and it’s an issue we already know). My second patient would be the 12 year old with the neck, arm, and lower back discomfort because there could be a serious underlying cause (my cause of concern would be if the problem is neural). My third patient would be the 46 year old with the superficial lacerations because although it’s just superficial, it’s worth giving a look at. And my 4th one would be the 11 year old with the headache, nausea, and vomiting because it could simply be a simple flu. Although once again, take my answer with a pinch of salt

A client returns to the telemetry unit after an operative procedure. Which diagnostic test will the nurse perform to monitor the
Lena [83]

The nurse will perform pulse oximetry to monitor the effectiveness of the oxygen therapy ordered for the client.

What is pulse oximetry?

The oxygen saturation level of your blood can be measured with a non-invasive procedure called pulse oximetry.

It can quickly identify even minute variations in oxygen levels. These levels demonstrate how well blood transports oxygen to your arms and legs, which are the extremities that are farthest from your heart. It looks like a little clip and is called a pulse oximeter. It fastens to a body component, usually a finger.

Pulse oximetry is helpful for postoperative patients, monitoring individuals at risk for hypoxia, titrating oxygen therapy, and monitoring patients receiving oxygen therapy.

Which of the following is true concerning oxygen in regards to aerobic respiration?
andrew-mc [135]

Answer:

Correct answer is c. It is the final electron acceptor in the aerobic respiration.

Explanation:

Oxygen is a substrate of the aerobic respiration, but it is not the only one. Glucose is also a substrate.

Oxygen is used in the cells to be the final electron acceptor, this means that receives the electrons from NADH and FADH2. That is why, when there is no oxygen available for aerobic respiration, the NADH and FADH2 cannot be oxidized and therefore remain in their reduced form. As a consequence, they cannot be re-utilized during different cellular processes that are NAD+ and FAD dependant, such as glycolysis, pyruvate oxidation and cellular respiration. This means that the ATP synthesis stops.

Oxygen itself does not transport any electrones, this are transported by the cytochrome complex in the mitochondrial membrane. But oxygen is key in receiving those electrones, therefore a very important piece of the electron transport across the mitochondria.
