Medical question? How should used medical instruments be transported from surgery room.
Nuetrik [128]

Use drapes to cover the carts when you're transporting them to Sterile Processing, there should be a Biohazard sign posted whenever transporting contaminated equipment/instruments to Sterile Processing as well. Spray all used instruments before transporting with a foam enzymatic so that instruments stay moist.

Why is the drug actinomycin used only in research applications or in the treatment of cancer?
Oxana [17]

Actinomycin is used only in research applications or cancer treatment because it is active against both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.

How does actinomycin work?

 • Actinomycin D inhibits RNA synthesis in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells thus blocking transcription.
 • Actinomycin was first isolated from Streptomyces antibioticus.
 • These bind to the DNA at the site of transcription initiation complex and prevent the activity of DNA dependent RNA polymerase.
 • By blocking the metabolic machinery of cells (RNA synthesis), actinomycin prevents the growth of cells. Therefore used in cancer treatment to prevent uncontrolled proliferation of cells.
 • As it can also act on eukaryotic cells so it is not used as an antimicrobial drug as it can harm the cells of our body.
 • However it can be used in research to prevent microbial growth in petri plates.

True or false. hiv/aids is considered a pandemic.
Lena [83]
In order to answer this question, we should know what a pandemic means: it means a global epidemic.

A lot of epidemics are very local, for example Malaria is limited to places where mosquitoes are very active.

HIV/AIDS can be found in all parts of the world, so that makes it a pandemic - it goes everywhere humans go, because it can survive in all conditions where humans live
