Answer:

Cost to pave the road = $4257

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of the pavement = Area of the outer circle - Area of the internal circle

Area of the outer circle = πr²

                                       = π(55)²

                                       = 3025π square feet

Area of the inner circle = π(33)²

                                       = 1089π square feet

Area of the pavement = 3025π - 1089π

                                     = 1936π

                                     = 6082.12 square feet

Cost of pavement = $0.70 per square feet

Therefore, cost of 6082.12 square feet = 6082.12 × 0.70

                                                                 = 4257.49

                                                                 ≈ $4257

Cost to pave the road = $4257

I NEED SERIOUS HELP PLEASE WITH PROBABILITY
erastova [34]
Since its a six sided die the probability for rolling a single number  ( like six or four) is always going to be 1/6.

and since the dice has the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 on it the probability for the even and the odd numbers are the same the even being 2, 4, 6  and odd being 1, 3, 5. the probability is 3/6 or simplified 1/2.

Let X be a random variable with probability mass function
Naya [18.7K]

Answer:

a. g(x) = ln(x).

b. g(x) = x*e^{xt}

Step-by-step explanation:

By the definition, the expected value of a random variable X with probability mass function p is given by \sum P(X=x)\cdot x where the sum runs over all the posible values of X. Given a function g, the random variable Y=g(X) is defined. Note that the function g induces a probability mass function P' given by P'(Y=k) = P(X=g^{-1}(k)) when the function g is bijective.

a. Note that for 1/3ln(2)+1/6ln(5) by choosing the function g(x) = ln(x) the expression coincides with E(g(x)), because if Y = g(x)  then E(Y) = P'(Y=1)*ln(1)+P'(Y=2)*ln(2)+P'(Y=5)*ln(5) = P(X=1)*ln(1)+P(X=2)*ln(2)+P(X=5)*ln(5).

b. On the same fashion, the function g(x) = xe^{xt} fullfills the expression of E[g(X)]
